I miss those games. You know, like Time Crisis, Area 51, Virtua-Cop, and the Silent Scope series. I’d think with all the motion controls on the Wii, or the PS3, we’d see a few more games like that. Sure I can walk down to my local arcade, and MAYBE find a few of those good old games, but I don’t like walking, or carrying change in my pockets, so…
I know it’s not really a big portion of the video game market, but there is just something about holding that light gun and seeing the brains splatter. I even remember playing Virtua Cop 5 for HOURS, trying to beat the game with all crotch shots. Heck, I’d have bought a Wii just to play those games again.
Anyone else miss those? Come on, I know you do…
I played Time Crisis 4 on the PS3. It came with the light gun and sensors to put on top of your TV. While I love this genre in the arcade, the way it worked with the PS3 when I played it was horrible. Not very fun at all. Now if they can make it work with the upcoming PS3 motion controllers, Natal, or Wii Motion Plus, I think it would work nicely.
I loved Silent Scope at the arcade, but I don't know how it would translate to a console format. I loved the big gun you held while looking through the scope. Don't see that happening on the 360 anytime soon…
My buddy and I would put quarter after quarter into Area 51 instead of playing pool at our crappy outlet mall arcade. I really wish they would revamp this type of game and bring it back full force. Nice writeup man!
They remade House of the Dead 2 and 3 for the Wii. I own it and both of them play real well on it. I have also seen another game I liked on arcade named Ghost Squad for the Wii. I haven't tried that one out yet.
But yeah out of all the old shooter arcades I really wish they would bring all the Time Crisis ones over. They could even design the Wii Fit to work as the pedal.
i'm gonna have to stash every nickel i get for a while till i can get an old area 51 or time crisis arcade machine…
I was just thinking about this today, I miss th Silent Scope rifle. Its much more fun than the xbox controller.
