Just a friendly heads up to PS3 gamers out there to get on the PS3 tonight if there are any pressing PlayStation Store updates you’re waiting to download. Tomorrow, the PSN will be done from 11am ET (8am PT) until roughly 8pm ET (5pm PT). Since updates can’t go out while the PSN is down, Sony is being oh so gracious and dropping this week’s update a day early. That means tonight if you aren’t following the bouncing ball.
There probably isn’t anything major that you’re all expecting from the PlayStation Store update this week, so just go back to your daily routine. As for me, I’ll be hopping online in Halo: Reach for some Firefight action tonight. It’s just so damn addicting.
Yesterday marked the first time the PlayStation Store updated on a Tuesday here in North America. Instead of waiting until Thursdays every week, PS3 owners can now get their content two enormous days earlier, bringing release dates to parity with their Xbox 360 brethren.

PS3 owners – are you tired of waiting two whole days from when your Xbox 360 brethren get their content? Well, wait no longer. Starting May 4, the PlayStation Store will update on Tuesdays in North America and Wednesdays in Europe.
What this means for a lot of you out there is that you won’t have to wait two agonizing days from when your Xbox 360 friends get their Rock Band tracks or DLC packs. Sounds good, eh?
We don’t know for sure whether Microsoft will counteract and start releasing things on Mondays or if publishers will still try to release everything on Tuesdays here in the US. My guess is the latter and we’ll all live harmoniously, fanboyism will disappear, world hunger will be solved, and peace will come to the Middle East. Grandiose dreams? Sure. Will it ever happen? No chance.
Very often I read about news of game demos and content that come to the European PSN that we just don’t get over here in the hamburger filled USA. It doesn’t happen very often mind you, because most of it comes to the states a day or two later, but if you’re like me, and are impatient, you have to get that content as soon as it comes out.
