I’m firmly in the boat is not wanting 3D for my home movies or gaming. You may disagree, but I have my reasons (motion sickness, not buying a new HDTV or expensive glasses, etc). It seems that, just like motion controls, many of the major publishers are going to jump into the 3D pool to see how the water feels. At this year’s E3, EA will be showing off a “marquee title” in 3D.
Not much else is known at this point, but we do know EA’s game list and that 3D title is listed separately from the rest. While that doesn’t mean it isn’t one of those previously listed titles, I have a feeling we might be seeing something like the new Medal of Honor being shown off.
Here’s the current dilemma with 3D gaming: at present, no consoles support it. The PS3 will be getting a firmware update over the summer to support 3D gaming and Microsoft hasn’t stated any plans for the Xbox 360 as of yet. Don’t even get me started on the Wii. So, with console support and 3D TV adoption very thin, I have to think this is more a proof-of-concept and novelty at this point. I’m not ruling out a larger market penetration, but right now it’s too damn expensive.
It’ll be interesting to see what EA has to show in 3D at E3. Maybe it’s a new SSX. A man can dream, can’t he?

There is a new SSX coming out on E3 this year!
