What Are You Playing? (Gamer Hangover Edition)

If they ever decided to make a movie about a video game themed version of Hangover, this would be your lead actor. Football pads, motorcycle gloves, and a lightgun from the Nintendo, no doubt this guy had a crazy night of drinking he won’t remember in the morning. This picture doesn’t show it, but there is actually a white Bengal tiger on the other side of the couch. Good. Fucking. Times.

It’s our weekly musing into the busy lives of our very loyal Loot Ninja readers. For most of the shirt-and-tie working folk out there it’s the end of another shitty work week. For us gamers our week is just getting started (glorious weekend gaming time).

We want to give you the opportunity to sound off on all of the great games you’re playing at the moment. Did you just get a new game wrapped in cellophane? Are you in the middle of something right now – (still enjoying Duke Nukem Forever?) – or are you trying to finish off a title and start on your next great adventure? Loot Ninja wants to know!

I traded in a few games I don’t play anymore and picked up Duke Nukem Forever. Believe me, I know what I’m getting into. With the parade of bad reviews, I knew going into the game it wasn’t going to be stellar. But what I found was typical of a game in development for 11 years and Duke humor. It’s one of the many games my fiance doesn’t want me to play by myself. She wants to be there to see me do everything in the world, like microwave rats, pop popcorn, lift weights, and spit out line after line of sultry John Saint John goodness. Like I have said before, it won’t win any game awards, it won’t be noted for it’s sense of realism, it won’t be a benchmark for games going forward. It’s a guilty pleasure, and I personally say fuck all of the reviewers who were “over-the-top” bagging and hating on it. I know what I’m buying (and so do a lot of my gamer friends, as well as a lot of other people). I’m not saying Duke Nukem Forever is a good or decent game by any means, it’s just one of those titles you play because it’s different than anything else.

What the hell have you guys been up to and been playing over the last week? You have an opinion on the whole Duke Nukem Forever fiasco? Be sure to let me know what you’re gaming on in the comments……

This week I’ve mainly be playing Disgaea 3. It makes for a nice change of pace from the usual RPGs I play.

Not much gaming time with peoples graduations and fathers day. But if I get a chance I’m on the home stretch for AC Brotherhood and hopefully my friend finally downloaded Dead Nation so we can start that.

As for the DukeGate 2011, honestly all this horrible reviews makes me kinda wanna play it. I definately don’t have $60 to throw down on it. Since it’s getting such bad reviews they should reconsider the price so more people would be willing to give it a try. I guess there’s always redbox.
