A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about a new DLC promotion with EA games and Dr. Pepper. The concept seemed simple enough, drink Dr. Pepper, save the cap, redeem your code and download content to your EA game. This worked really well with Spore. I was even surprised that one code got me a whole pack of mech parts for Spore. They downloaded and installed just fine and I made a creature with them.
However, getting the download codes to work for Sims3 is a royal pain in the ass. I have wasted four codes trying to get Sims3 downloads. The instructions are not very clear and there is no information to help with problems. Getting content should not be this hard. Hit the jump to see what happens when I try.
This is my code history that shows the codes I redeemed. I did 3 under my regular email address and one under my Ladym email address. Both are tied to EA accounts.

… it takes me to the Sims3 store with no further instructions! WTF??? What are we suppose to do now? I read the forums and some other posters said to check under “My Account”, which I did and nothing is showing there. I opened the game and there are no items in the game. Where are my items?
Is anyone else having success with this? What am I doing wrong? If anyone reading has the super secret ninja way of redeeming these codes, please share with me.

I finally figured it out because I was just as frustrated as u were. On the dr.pepper website I found this:
"..IMPORTANT: To claim Sims 3 prizes you need a registered Sims 3 game. After claiming a prize, you will be directed to The Sims 3 Store. Log in using your EA account, then go to your purchase history page to download the item…"
Worked for me.
I tried what you said, I logged into my EA account which is different than my Sims account. Under my "Gaming LadyM" account was my items. I just downloaded them and they went into my game launcher so it did work after all, just not like I expected. Frustration over. Thanks.
When you get back to the sims website, go to my account and then purchase history, like you do when you buy something from the store and don't add it to the launcher.
It should all be listed in the purchase history with the most recent redeemed item first.

Its really not that hard. Go to the store at the top of the page, hold your mouse over it and click on MY ACCOUNT, Once there is CLEARLY has a link on the page to click on PURCHASE HISTORY and all your stuff will be right there. Just like you would do if you were downloading stuff from the sims site itself to view your items….
As I posted earlier, I was able to work out my issue and get my items. The problem was that nothing showed in the purchase history because the Sims account was under another email address and that caused confusion. Something they didn't really address in the instructions. Still drinking Dr Pepper and saving my bottle caps.

just go to your purchase history in sims 3 and it will show up there. then just re-download it!
