Good news released today by 2k Games and Valve about Civilization V. All PC versions of the game will be powered with Steamwork’s features and there will be a special Digital Deluxe Edition available through Steam. Customers who pre-order through Steam will be getting a free map pack, the Cradle of Civilization: Mesopotamia when the game launches. But wait, that’s not all… you also get a bonus Civilization of Babylon and the leader Nebuchadnezzar II. Oh no, we’re not done yet.. you will be receiving a behind the scenes video and a copy of the soundtrack to the game! That’s a pretty good bonus.

So what are the benefits of Steamworks? Auto updating, steam achievements, down-loadable content and mulitplayer matchmaking plus you can chat with your friends while playing. One of the other benefits about steam is when you get a new computer, you don’t have to hunt for your disk and number, you just have to redownload on your new computer and you’re ready to sign in and play.

In honor of the upcoming Civilization V game, Steam is offering a weekend sale starting today on all previous Civilization titles at a whopping 75% off. If you ever thought about getting the older versions, now is the time to do it. I was going to order this game through Steam anyway so I’m really excited to hear about the extra content. Pre-orders start today and don’t forget that Loot Ninja now has a steam group so you can find others who want to play.
