You might not get the headline right off the bat (or the picture for that matter), but I’d bet a few hookers that you’ve probably been through what I’m talking about. The void is a window of time where there really aren’t any good games being released. If there are, they are spaced out, sporadic, and don’t really have the same punch we get around the end of the year. My question to you guys is what are you guys doing or playing over the upcoming void (which by my clock starts today) since all the big games have been added to your collection?

Bioshock 2, Heavy Rain, God Of War III, Final Fantasy XIII are just some of the games released in the first quarter of the year. Sure, there are more, but my point is: What do we have to look forward to in the next couple of months? Well, I’ll tell you. We start off with Dance Sensation! for the Wii coming out today. Yep! What a way to kick off this awesome lull. I told you it officially starts today. Next we have Super Street Fighter IV coming out. Great! I have been playing that for almost a year now when it was called “Street Fighter IV”. Adding the word “Super” to the title does not make it new. Then, we get a little better selection when Splinter Cell: Conviction, Red Dead Redemption and the Microsoft exclusive Alan Wake come out around the middle of May. Do you see what I mean though? Those games are already two months away from now and there are only 3 worthwhile big games being released in that time frame. Throw in ModNation Racers at the end of May and your are looking at MAYBE 4 game purchases over the course of 3 months depending on your pocket change and if you want those games.

I’m personally going to take a break from purchasing games for the next few months to let those previously released bigger titles sink in. We’ve all been through this crap before each and every year, but it seems that the void this time around is going to be longer, possibly harder to get through with a few games from 2009 being pushed back to early 2010. I don’t know? I guess with all the time I’ll have on my hands now I will beat a few of the longer games in my backlog and catch up on porn. Hey, don’t judge me. I thought you had to watch Big Boob Volleyballers: Part 1 before you watch Part 2? There has got to be a continuing storyline and things I might miss right?

Anyway, I still need to go back and start playing Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, Far Cry 2, and Final Fantasy XIII. These are just the slew of higher hour titles I have. I still haven’t beaten the first Resistance or even started Resistance 2. That’s how far behind I am. Each one of those other games I mentioned have upwards of 40 to 50+ hours of gameplay, so that should hold me over. Throw in a few matches of some multiplayer shooter with some friends and I’m set until the end of the year.
