I’ve Been Called a Lot of Things…

Ryan

…but nerd comes to mind most often.

Gaming is a part-time passion of mine, and has been for years, ever since I woke up on Christmas morning, 1987. There I found, tucked up under the tree, my very own Tandy TRS 80 and a copy of my first ever videogame, Robocop. VICTORY WAS MINE!

Anyways, I stumbled upon this site pretty recently. I was Googling some random Boolean search about “zombies” like everyone else on the internets, when lo and behold, the first result at the top of the page? Loot Ninja’s “Zombie T-Shirt Caption Contest” from back in December, 2008. I entered on a whim, and managed to win a sweet zombie shirt, which my wife promptly stole from me. Anyways, Loot Ninja has been a daily/hourly stop for me ever since that day.

In the coming weeks, I hope to bring some new perspective, and my “non-mandatory 30 pieces of flair” to the Loot Ninja wardrobe. Hopefully you will be able to glean a small amount of useful information from my incoherent, insane ramblings. I’m not going to hold my breath on that last part.

Awesome man - TRS 80 was my first love too … “Dungeons of Dagareth” was my first game and if I still had it I would play it now … unfortunately I donated it years later to a friends son who had taken ill and needed some distraction. Funny enough, years later I gave him my PSone when I upgraded to PS2.

  2. We’re glad to have you here Ryan! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on everything!

I…uh… ummm… am gaming illiterate and just came for the moral support. Here are my thoughts: Video games are so boring as far as I’m concerned. But hey, that’s me. I’m a girl with other interests… such as pretty flowers and facebook. I mean, your entire article is like a foreign language to me. But that’s okay. Don’t hate on me. I just don’t care.

I do however want you to know that I came, saw, bought the T-shirt, and encourage any artist (even gamers and bloggers) to keep on painting. Go you! (:

  4. Doesn’t it bother you that you’re required to wear flair?

    1. Your avatar puts a smile on my face. The Dude abides.

What?! I have no recollection of any of this! Could we get a review of that new PC game? It think it’s called Kings Quest? It looks awesome! It’s like some 3D adventure game!

Aaah the old TRaSh 80. I’m pretty sure my watch has more computing power than that old thing did. Anyone ever port Oregon trail to a Suunto?

    1. You have died of dysentery.

  7. Very cool Ryan! Nice to meet you! I hope we can get through all of the hazing here at Loot Ninja! :D

  8. Oh hey Banks, you can’t tell it from my photo above, but I’ve got you and Scuba both whipped on the size. I’m 6′-2″ @303lbs……and I’m DOWN 62lbs since May. heheheheh. We grow ‘em big here in the South.

    Looking foward to your contributions.

    Start off strong brother!

Oh robocop, why don’t we have more anti-drug robot cops out there anymore. I love shooting virtual little kid drug dealers. Keep up the gaming talk and you’ll have my attention on future articles.

  11. A southern slant on gaming, interesting. Excited to have you on board buddy.

Tell me all you know about Frito Pie.

    1. Kohlbecker,

Frito pie here in the South has evolved in the last 10 years. It is now an extremely nuanced dish, full of enticing flavors and textures. This is not the glob of Wolf Chili on Fritos with onions and cheese that it used to be.

For instance, my own personal recipe consists of a base made from lightly fried hash browns, covered in my wife’s homemade chili, and is then topped with chopped bacon, Wisconsin extra sharp smoked white cheddar cheese, sauteed onions, peppers, and jalapenos. And then garnished with a small spoonful of sour cream .

I’m feeling a food network style show featuring Ryan showing us how to cook Frito Pie.

He can have his own little section in Loot-Ninja, heh.
