For some of us out there I guess this isn’t really news at all. But for those of you who may have had high hopes or haven’t had a chance to check, In ‘The Name Of The King: A Dungeon Siege Tale’ completely bombed at the box offices. As reported by the Box Office Mojo website, the movie based on the popular P.C. series (with a PSP game out there also) couldn’t hold its own against such titles as ‘One Missed Call’, ‘Alvin & The Chipmunks’ , ‘The Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything’ and ‘National Treasure: Book Of Secrets’ - which are arguably as bad or worse. Jesus, even ‘The Bucket List’ hit the #1 spot. Oi!
Total worldwide sales have hit $7,185,692 - thats $2,984,524 domestic, $4,201,168 for it’s opening weekend. It’s showing in an respectable 1,632 theaters. It’s too bad when you think about it. Jason Statham has done some great work especially for Guy Ritchie. As far as Burt Reynolds and Ray Liotta are concerned, both of them are former ‘A-list’ actors whom I would love to see back on top (I guess doing ‘Lord of the Rings’ rip-offs aren’t the best move - oh well). Even the secondary actors have good history - John Rhys Davies, Leelee Sobieski, Ron Perlman, Claire Forlani and Matthew Lillard.
Overall things could change. Look at ‘The Bucket List’. It was at 23 last week. Maybe Dungeon Siege is still gathering some steam.
Or maybe it just sucks and we should all just get over it. Hmm.
Durka!

LOL it did worse than One Missed Call, which has a zero at rotten tomatoes.
I thought it would suck
You’re gonna tell me that Henry Hill from Goodfellas and Jack Horner from Boogie Nights are gonna star in a medieval warrior movie and its not gonna tank? Even Miss Cleo saw this one coming. I guess these guys really needed the money.
