Why?! Why must people that play online shooters or online in general be jerks? Why can’t people just play the %ucking game and not try to give everyone a headache? My frustration stems from GRAW 2 on the Xbox 360 and trying to play over Xbox Live, but it got me thinking about this particular item.
I was playing through GRAW 2 single player and decided to hop online and try some of the multiplayer gametypes, bad idea! I proceeded to try and just get a quick game online using the quick match funtion. I quickly got booted. OK, so I think this is nothing and try another one after running a custom search. 15 games later of trying to get into a game and not get booted, I finally go back to one of the original rooms and try to ask why i keep getting booted for no reason? Answer: Becasue my rank was 1, wtf?? So I ask the kids on the other side (that were level 9) if they born level 9 perchance? How the %uck are people supposed to level up or learn how to play if higher players won’t play with them for fear of losing levels?
Correct me if I am wrong, but if you are so good and are such a high level, what would be your fear of playing with some low level players anyway? Also I wasn’t aware that your GRAW level was correlated with some life or death statistic?! I proceeded to go off and yell at the kids in the room and vent my frustrations, but it just brought me to a bad place, why must online games give me heart burn?
I play video games to pass the time and have fun mostly. Online the competitive nature of people and their general level of douche baggery overwhelms me with rage! This isn’t only reserved for online shooters like GRAW and Halo but also MMORPG games. Many a game do I hear people in parties shunning others becasue they dont know what they are doing. This makes no sense to me, how can you put someone down for trying to learn how to play something, if this happened in real life people would just stop trying. See a baby learning how to walk that falls and just run up and yell at it and call it a NEWB! Not a Very productive mode of thinking.
Why can’t people just play and try to be helpful to others when online? Typically if I am playing anything and someone who isn’t as experienced tries to join, I won’t boot them, I will see if I can help them out and give them a hand learning the ropes.
This brings me to anohter annoying topic when playing online, “the online gangster”, someone that is microphone tough. You have all come across this fool, talking tough over Xbox Live about how they will mess you up and how you suck. These are the guys that if you ran into them on the street would run away from a real confrontation, but give them an anonymous online world where they can yell into a microphone and they become the next coming of Suge Knight. (Deathrow in da hizzy!) Why? Does it make you feel tough? Is it funny? Or are you just that pathetic?
Then of course there is the ever phone baligerent prophanity slinger or the constant racist, these are also a great player to deal with. It is always great loads of fun to try and play anything when every other word you hear is a proophanity or ehtnic slur, has the world just gone to shiet? Now don’t get me wrong, I will curse as much as the next guy when upset during a match but I can string together a coherent sentence without adding in an F bomb.
All I can say is that online games are both a gift and a curse, I never realized how many idiots there were in the world until I delved into the world of online gaming. I also would like to add that the majority of the players I find that are morons come form the US, I rarely come across a rude Japanese or European player, although there are always exceptions. Playing a GRAW deathmatch should be fun and not make me want to punch my screen, bring back the fun people, don’t be a douche online!
What are your thoughts?

Taz,
I hate to say this but I have to agree with you 100%. I was playing Shadowrun the day it came out, and there was one particular guy screaming and yelling at everyone and callin everyone a NOOB. HA! I mean what the hell, the game JUST came out.
When I bought up this point to the said offender I was greeted with silence. I mean werent we all noobs since the game has been out only one day?
Just my 2 cents,
Wolfe
U should need a license 2 communicate online. I’m glad my country has a close-knit gaming community..
Anonymity breeds idiots, lucky we all know each other.
More and more games will move to a lobby that has no host so booting cannot happen. I was a 6 in GRAW 2 and people are so afraid of ranking down they refuse to play. COD 3, game kinda sucks but the ranked match system is great. You are put into a lobby run by the server and the game starts when the required players are all ready. GRAW 2, though and awesome game, has a severely flawed ranked match system so bad that I stopped playing it out of the frustration.
I agree with Scuba. Games need better matchmaking that’s handled by the server so this type of thing doesn’t happen (booting).
As far as people being assholes, I hate it too. That’s why I tend to play with people I know and branch out from there. Jumping into a random match is never any good… there’s always an jerk off in the game somewhere.
Thats right Pandas like on the Halo 3 Beta the Matchmaking let you go with people your own lvl it was good.
I have to agree the Ghost Recons have allways been one of my favorite games but I gave up trying to play because I don’t want to spend 30 minutes trying to get into a game. I just wish I could find a balance between players who want to play competativley, without being complete a-holes. I won’t even play a COD3 ranked game because no one ever wants to end a game, just so they can get points, I can’t tell you how many times I have been killed by my own team as I was capturing the last objective. This issue stems from both achievments and leader boards, I want a good team game but as soon as there is a leader board, or achievment, based on individual stats people stop playing as a team, they stop trying to win the game so they can gain those precious points so their rank goes up. I mean I want a good score too but my personal identity isn’t so rapped up in it that I would degrade others, or ignore the objectives of the game to get that score. I would rather score no points and win than a 100 and still lose.
I agree 100 % too there are too many jerks out there on Live it is a pain in the ass to try and find a great Lobby there is the samne problem in Rainbow six Vegas, you easyly get booted there too.
I find the same issue with American 12 year olds, its a shame however I have found some people who play R6V and Forza 2 etc. with a lot of fun but still very aggressive, only in gameplay, we don’t bitch and insult people, I swear at myself but get on with it, if you want to add me to friends for a good mature game thats fine.
Ya sometimes i meet the the 8 year old playing R6V. He would be like “LETS GO B***CHS” and i would be like ha……………… The game starts then he dies and is like” WHAT THE H**L THAT C**KSUCKER JUST FU*KING KILLED FU**!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” and i would be like SHUT UP!!!!!!! then that continues throuhtout the game and such and such
I have to agree with you all. I don’t even play online half the time because I get so pissed for getting booted out for the first 35 minutes. If I do get a game, I get ganged up on and called blank blank blank noob and I should go back to blank blank blank…..its pathetic. Sounds like I would enjoy gaming with any of you, my tag is RacingX, for both XBL and PSN. Drunk Pandas I think I’ve played some Warhawk with you….it was good times and fun game. Peace
yeah the Loot Ninja crew does not tolerate that kind of behavior, it just ruins everything. If you want ot get a game in with us just send us a message or a friend request. Peace
i totally agree with you too.i finally went live 2days ago.i have experieced the same rudeness playing graw2.The thing is,you can hear them talk about you andIcould’nt respond. My 7yr old boy heard the whole thing.I never got that type of treatment on the other site. I was just trying to unwind after work and this is what I ended up getting.
Yeah, same sentiment all around… I used to play R6V almost every night, and got so sick of the nonsense I got to the point where I would only play if either I or one of my buddies were hosting the match. That way the jerks would get a warning, and if they didn’t stop the nonsense they got the boot stick.
I just can’t believe how many people are so intolerant of new players. Several of the people on my buddy list were guys I met online as noobs and helped them learn the game, and they turned into great players that are a lot of fun to play with.
A little tolerance goes a long way.
