Sega’s The Conduit could easily be the most anticipated title of the year for the Wii, at least from the core gamer perspective. Too long have we been forced to wade through mini-game compilation after mini-game compilation. I’m not saying we need an M-rated game for it to be good, but something that appeals to core gamers instead of the cutesy and gimmicky games that are making up the majority of the Wii’s release schedule is sorely needed.
At Comic Con, I got to spend a good deal of time with The Conduit. Right off the bat, I can say it’s one of, if not the best looking game I’ve seen on the Wii. The amount of textures, destructible environments, normal mapping, and shaders that High Voltage pushed through the platform is intense. I can’t speak too much for the sound, since we were on the show floor.

The Wii has been fairly void of third party titles that are worthy of a second look, let alone a first person shooter, so it’s great to hear that The Conduit finally has a publisher. Sega has jumped on board to publish the long anticipated title developed by High Voltage Software.
The Conduit is a Wii exclusive first person shooter set in Washington D.C. following an alien invasion. The title is powered by an in house engine that has created quite a stir because of the great visuals that it has been able to produce on the Wii. The Conduit will also support Wii Speak and the MotionPlus peripheral.
I doubt this will be enough to draw people away from playing FPS titles on their other systems but at least Wii gamers now have a FPS title all to themselves that isn’t awful, yeah I am looking at you Red Steel.
The Conduit could definitely be a reason to pick your Wii back up. This first person shooter looks phenomenal and should take advantage of all the Wii has the offer. The weapons are looking damn good, and here’s a bunch of them all in one shot. Check it out.
