Buzz! Quiz World is the latest in the trivia series to grace the PS3. I played a few of the games back on the PS2, but this was my first foray on the PS3 and the first with the wireless buzzers. If you’re a trivia buff on the PS3, this game is for you. With over 5000 questions on disc and the MyBuzz online service, you’ll be hard pressed to not keep coming back.

I really enjoy trivia games, from the board game realm to Scene It, so having a general knowledge trivia in video game is great. You play through a Quiz Show style program with Buzz as your host. Some game types are your standard fare, such as Faster Finger and Stop the Clock, where answering fastest gets your more points. Others, such as Boiling Point and Pie Contest, turn up the fun factor for everyone playing by having you filling a thermometer fastest and throwing pies in the face other contestants respectively. You’ll need Buzz wireless controllers to play and can have up to 8 players locally or online battling it out to see who’s the smartest.

There’s little wrong with Buzz! Quiz World, which is great for casual gamers and trivia buffs. There is very little to do here if you’re a solo player, so you’ll have to wait for family and friends to come over and play. You can play by yourself online, but in multiple attempts, I wasn’t able to find many available games online. With four players in your house trying to play online against another set for four, people will get restless after a few minutes of sitting there at the “Waiting for other players…” screen, especially when there’s no easy way to go back to the main menu without rebooting the game.

All in all, the problems are very minimal. I really enjoyed Buzz! Quiz World, especially the over 40,000 user-generated quested from the MyBuzz online portion of the game. There is essentially an endless supply of questions, so you shouldn’t see repeats very often. Any trivia fans looking for a party game should definitely take a gander at Buzz! Quiz World. If you already own wireless buzzers, you can grab the game alone for $39.99, or $59.99 with a set of four buzzers. It’s well worth the purchase
