Media Molecule, the developers of LBP, has delayed the long-awaited PS3 exclusive due to references to the Qu’ran on the in-game soundtrack.

“During the review process prior to the release of LittleBigPlanet, it has been brought to our attention that one of the background music tracks licensed from a record label for use in the game contains two expressions that can be found in the Qur’an,” admitted Media Molecule in a statement.

“We have taken immediate action to rectify this and we sincerely apologize for any offence that this may have caused.”

Well, if this isn’t the worse news I’ve heard thus far. Forget the damn economy… this is SACKBOY we’re talking about here, people. So when can we expect to see LittleBigPlanet hit our local retail stores? The US release has been moved to October 27th and a worldwide delay of three weeks. Ouch… sucks to be you guys. I truly sympathize for you… and will madly laugh at all my PSN friends who are from Europe (that includes you Keith) as I build ridiculously huge penises in LBP.

After such a hype… such a tease and top-notch reviews we’re plagued with a delay of one of the most anticipated titles this year. All because some jerky decided to place religious music in a game. What ever happened to George Michael’s “Faith”? Isn’t that religion-neutral? I don’t know about the rest of you but I would have been fine listening to some Abba on the soundtrack. There’s something about a dancing queen that that just goes good with the ambiance of LBP.
