This editor is one person that at this second is logging off the site to watch the final game ever to be played at the house that Ruth built, thats right Yankee Stadium is hosting its last baseball game ever between the New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles. A brand new stadium has been constructed right across the street from this iconic and almost cathedral like stadium and we must now say goodbye to this old girl.
Yankee Stadium is celebrating its 85 year in existence, established in 1923, today marks the last time any pinstriped players will play in this Bronx stadium. This is a bitter sweet moment as we reminisce over all the great times and games and close the book on a chapter in Yankee history.
At least moving forward we can expect to see this classic stadium as an unlock-able or extra stadium in every single baseball game to be produced. If MLB the Show and the MLB 2K series don’t add in the classic Yankee Stadium into their code they will be committing a huge sin against baseball and its fans. Suddenly makes me want to hold onto my copy of MLB Power Pros seeing as the cartoon Yankee Stadium is the last of its kind that will grace my television.
Excuse me as I pry myself away from the computer to watch this monumental moment live. Let’s go Yankees!

Because there is a new one being built right next to it.
Sad to see all the history go. Even if you aren’t a Yankee fan, as a baseball fan you have to respect the great things and history that happened there.
why are they building a new one?
To make more money. The new stadium will have a steak house, more luxury seats and a lot more concessions. They will also be bale to charge more per ticket. Pretty sad watching the last game last night.
They are making a new one so they can get the corporate jerks, the hollywood types and the congressman to take their high maintenance sluts to the games.
It is not going to be for the Joe Schmoe fan. I already saw the ads on yankees.com about their ticket plans. The good seats are $500 each per game. So a grand for two tickets to see Kansas City play against them. More expensive for the premium games.
Oh yeah and lets not talk about Ticketmaster (more like Ticket BASTARD), SCALPERS and STUB HUB (more like SUCK NUB)..
So it will be even harder to take you and your family to a game.
Yes the new stadium will be awesome. HD cameras everywhere, the latest gadgets, Hard ROCK CAFE, Steak house, a mall around the park that will be open year round, the biggest clubhouse for AROD to sit and play PS3. Everything will be plush and luxury. They even say no seat will have an obstructed view. Comfy and Cozy, if you can afford it.
The one that closed was the House that Ruth BUILT. And the next one is the HOUSE that the Steinbrenners built and AROD ROBBED. The curse of the AROD is here folks. Since we got him in 2004 look at what has happened: The yankees biggest choke job in ALCS 2004, The red sox have won two World series in 3 years and they are gonna make the playoffs again, the yankees are almost a 4th place team and broke their streak of 13 straight playoff appearances….
And AROD cant hit in the clutch….
We are stuck with that guy for 9 more years…. AFRAUD….
Sorry Im having a hard time letting go…
