According to some insider tips, Nintendo is prepping their successor to the Wii for a release in 2011. According to What They Play, Nintendo is showing select developers “early presentations of its next home console hardware”.
Supposedly, this is the true next-generation console Nintendo platform, being dubbed “Wii HD”. John Davison, formerly of 1up, broke the story and backs up the insider tips with news that Nintendo’s R&D budget has immensely increased over the past few months, indicating new hardware is in development.
Pretty much every tip we’ve received and everyone we’ve spoken with are pointing towards 2011/2012 for the release of the next generation of home consoles, giving the Xbox 360 a 6-7 year product cycle and the Wii and PS3 a 5-6 year life span. I won’t mind spending more money on consoles with that amount of time between products. What about you?

Write a Comment»I wouldn’t mind getting a new Wii, why? Because you know Nintendo will basically fuse a PS3/360 with their Wii as in make it geared towards both casual and hardcore gamers. How? Because the Wii helped them print money to start early development on it. I hope this rumor is true :<
Not sure why Nintendo will bother, they make tons of cash off the WIi and DS already. DS already getting anew design, I would just ride the Wii into the ground.
