Criterion won’t use Internet feedback to tune their game

Looks like Criterion was not very happy with he criticism most sites gave the new Burnout Demo, including this one. Alex Ward, Criterion creative director, pretty much lashed out against all those people that didn’t have something nice to say about the demo build.

The demo could never capture the essence of the BP “experience”, says Ward, because of the restrictive nature of a demo. “This new Burnout is an experience that YOU choose how to play rather than us forcing a game structure on you - when the rest of you get to play the full game I am confident you will agree.”

This sounds like a load of crap to me, I really do not like it when game developers put a demo out into the world and then claim that the demo has nothing to do with he final build? Then why the F%^& put it out?

Fact is that the Burnout Paradise demo just didn’t feel right and many fans spoke out against it, the whole driving to races goes against what Burnout is and makes it feel more Need for Speed like.

Another interesting fact is Criterion stated the game was complete even before the demo was put out so there would be no changes to the game no matter what. In other words deal with it and buy our game, we don’t care what your feedback is, good job Criterion! This also goes against the whole the demo does not reflect the whole game concept.

yeah, listening to the consumers is a big part of the business. unless their thinking is “well, we already spent so much time & money on the game, might as well sell it.”

I typically hate racing games, that’s actually why I liked burnout b/c it wasn’t like the other ones. Sounds like it turning in to a Need for Speed… lots of people will be let down

Because of the demo and the comments made by the development team, I shall pass on this game.
