I am sure you have heard by now about Sony using the decapitated goat at the European God of War release party. Here is video evidence of a story that just seems to not want to go away.

goat.jpgLoot Ninja brought you this story yesterday about how Sony used a decapitated goat’s head as a centerpiece at their God of War 2 release party in Europe. Well, to no one’s surprise, they backpedaled and said they were sorry.

An official statement released by Sony, “”On this occasion we recognize that we fell short of our normal high standards of conduct and apologize for any offense caused,” was there way of saying we screwed up.

Nevertheless, sales show no sign of stopping. The first version released about three years ago has sold 1.1 million copies in the United States alone. Since the U.S. launch in March, Sony has sold 833,000 copies of God Of War II according to informationweek.com. So what is the moral of the story? Bungie can go to the White House, take a huge steamer on the steps and we are all still going to buy Halo 3. It’s just not a good idea.

goat.jpgYou can’t make this stuff up. A London news site, Thislondon.co.ukreported that Sony threw an “Orgy” party to promote their release of God of War II for the PS2 in Europe. Topless girls serving grapes? I have no problem with that; what hetero male would? A half naked armor clad man posing asKratos handing out necklaces, fine. Having a real Goat, cut open, still bleeding on the table that guests could eat?! Wow. There is shock factor but this is crazy. Personally, I was not bothered. I love meat, hell I obey the rule of the jungle; I eat cow, cow eats grass.Unfortunately, many people did not share the same sentiment. A spokesman for the International Fund for Animal Welfare Fund said, “”We are always opposed to any senseless killing of an animal and this sounds like a gruesome death. We condemn Sony’s actions. It is stupid and completely unjustified.” I agree that Europe is more lax than America or Japan, but someone should get fired for this.
