Want to fix the freezing issues that are plaguing the PS3 version of GTA IV? Sorry Xbox 360 owners, no fix for you yet. And I don’t know how much I’d call this a fix. Here’s the 12 step process, courtesy of Gamespot:
- Delete the game’s install data
- Delete the game’s save files
- Disable your Internet connectivity for the PS3
- Disable the console’s information board
- Disable Media Server functionality
- Delete all of the system’s Internet cache
- Turn off the PS3 screen saver
- Once this has been done, manually restart you PS3 by holding down the power button for 5 seconds it will beep once and then shut down. Release the power button and re-press it and hold for about 5 seconds. The system will then boot and reset all display settings. You will be prompted to reset your display settings to how you require them
- Once restarted please try the game again, you will be prompted to reinstall.
- Turn off the game’s auto-save. Press Start, Game, and locate the Auto-save option. Turn this off.
- Turn off the game’s flicker filter. Press Start, Display and locate the Flicker Filter option. Turn this off.
- Turn off the controller vibration feature. Press Start, Controls and locate the vibration option. Turn this off.
So let me get this straight, after I basically disable everything on the PS3, I have to kill auto saves and rumble? Yeah, this is ridiculous. I wouldn’t call this a “fix”. Rockstar needs to get on their ass and get this fixed ASAP.

Write a Comment»lol, this is about as good a fix as borrowing your friend’s car until your car fixes itself.
I say that we get ready to file a class action lawsuit against Rockstar.
I’m not with the lawsuit crowd, but this is ridiculous.
“so what we want you to do is basically turn everything off. That’s right folks, turn all of the stuff that’s going to help you enjoy the game to it’s full potential off. We know we put it on there for a reason, but only 67% of you deserve to play that way.”
So anyhow, if I were to turn all of this off, I would be playing the game on a ps2…oh wait, no, then I could have rumble. But in essence, that’s what they are saying. Looks like they should have just stuck with that, and made a ps2 version. At least then I could have played it.
