To start off with I know what everyone is thinking that the genre of WWII games has been dragged out as far as it can possibly go and the horse has been beaten to death, but EA decides to take another stab at it with Medal of Honor Airborne. I was pleasantly surprised by the game so far, on normal difficulty the game is no push over and the presentation is awesome. In 5.1 surround sound the games explosions and gunfire pull you in, but more importantly the jumping out of planes element really got me excited.
As I played through the tutorial and the first board a few things were very apparent: this game is not linear and jumping out of planes looks awesome! You definitely get Band of Brothers flashbacks playing this game, (HBO WWII show that was really good) you jump out of planes toward green smoke markers that are designated enemy free for peaceful landings or you can steer towards landing in other areas of the map and take on Germans in “hot” areas. I liked the fact that you control where you land and are not forced to go in certain directions, you can explore levels and find Germans just hanging out and shoot them, during the first mission I parachuted onto the roof of a house and took out a group of Germans from there. So far this game is great and I think EA pushed the genre a bit further, but I think this might be the last hooray for Medal of Honor.

I’ve also been sorta pumped for this game. Add an awesome twist to a game from a dried up genre, and you get a pretty bitchin’ game.
