Ok so I was visiting some family members and came across this game from my two younger cousins. I have to say that at first I thought this would be a big waste of time but the game is very cute and incorporates a lot of classic RPG elements into an old school 2D Jap Anime feel. Think Viewtiful Joe meets WoW. The game is also free, you download the game and there is no monthly fee. The game is pretty funny because in order to set up an account they ask you for quite a bit of info and security passwords.
There is a large community that plays this online and it is even advertised on major magazines like Electronics Gaming Monthly, which my cousin showed me. I really need to brush up on my PC gaming, shame on me.
The game elements are basic, you have a little sprite that is your avatar and he gains levels for killing things and completing quests. As you gain levels you can acquire a job function: thief, mage, warrior, and bowman. Once you get a job function, then you get skills and can kill more stuff. They have specific quests for Halloween and rare items that you can acquire through events. Your avatar can be customized further by purchasing items from their site, I don’t see a need other than this is how the developers are paying their bills. The engine is smooth and the game play basic yet fun. You can hotkey spells and skills and can jump and pick items up. You can also party with up to 6 people and run around the world looting.
This game does look fairly deep in game play and as I only got to level 9 with my little magician, cleverly named taz8080, so I ma sure there is still a lot of unexplored game as you increase in levels. As you grow the gear you can equip changes and so does the look of your avatar. The 2D feel works well with the game and actually is very appealing to the eye with pretty backgrounds and monsters.
If you want a free game to kill some time I recommend checking this out. The specs to download and play are fairly basic also, since it’s 2D game there are minimal requirements.

MapleStory Is an Awesome game, and there are WAY more gamming possibilities* once you get past lvl 9. SO. You need to lvl way more to actually have fun on the game.
I think I might wanna play Maplestory. Sounds fun.

It is a HUGE waste of time, no doubt, but somehow, there’s something about this game that makes it extremely addicting. I’m level 72 on there, and there are a lot of gaming possibilities and places available then you would find as a level 9. xD
I would recommend it as well.
