The PS3 downloadable game is now available in the US for a limited time price of $4.99.
The gameplay looks pretty cool with SIXAXIS controls. Looks to control like fl0w, which is very fun once you get used to it. I’ll probably grab this game when I get back home tomorrow. My vacation hasn’t been that relaxing…
So today I sat down and spent a good bit of time with the PS3 version of MLB2K7. I’ve put in about 50+ hours with the 360 version, so I had a good basis for comparison.
For starters, the 360 version looks better. The PS3 seems to have more jaggies and a bit more framerate issues. That being said, it doesn’t look bad. It’s just not as polished.
The hitting is completely different in the PS3. By default, you use the SIXAXIS motion controls to bat. You pull the controller back and push it forward, similar to using the right analog stick as the swing stick. It felt a bit off at first, but I got used to it. It makes hitting a bit less realistic. I was hitting home run after home run after home run. It’s hard to differentiate between a contact and power swing when you’re pushing the controller forward. I think they need to patch this, if possible. The swing stick is much more realistic.
A new version of Gran Turismo HD (v2.0) has been added to the European PlayStation Store (US version is still at v1.1 at time of writing). The major change is they have added Force Feedback support for racing wheels. This is HUGE news for PS3 owners! Now you’ll be able to enjoy your racing wheels from your PS2 with full support for vibration.
Now we just have to wait and see when a SIXAXIS is released with vibration. I’m better by the end of the year. Finally, some good news for PS3 owners.
Midway and Sony Online Entertainment today posted a trailer for Mortal Kombat II, which is coming as a download from the PlayStation Store for the PS3 in April.
The trailer looks terrific. Looks like they enhanced the graphics nicely, and the gameplay is crisp. I have a feeling this will be way better than UMK3 for the Xbox Live Arcade, since the d-pad on the Sixaxis is actually functional, unlike the d-pad on the Xbox 360 controller.
After seeing the cool video of the PS3 Home service, we now bring you a video of the Hall of Fame feature of Home. It’s sort of like the Xbox 360’s Achievements, but a more visual demonstration where you have a huge trophy room. Check it out for yourselves…
Did anyone else catch that Loco Roco section in the Hall of Fame? Does that mean we’ll see the terrific PSP title on it’s big brother sometime soon? Gamespot caught up with the director of Loco Roco, Tsutomo Kouno’s, during his presentation at GDC on the game’s development. From their interview:
But perhaps most interestingly, he teased, “I’d like to use a new way of playing the game for the next version of LocoRoco.”
He wouldn’t talk about it during the session, but he did promise attendees “a new and pleasant surprise.”
Very interesting, indeed! Is this new way of playing the SIXAXIS? Only time will tell, but I think it’s fairly certain to see that the next version of Loco Roco will be making it’s way onto a PS3 near you. More and more reasons coming out to own one, which is a sigh of relief for PS3 owners.
Sony Computer Entertainment and Immersion Corporation have agreed to settle their differences in regards to their patent feud over Rumble technology on PlayStation controllers. The two companies have agreed to enter into an agreement, which would allow for Immersion Technology to be incorporated into Sony PlayStation products. So what does this mean for us gamers? Probably that you will see a new version of the Six-axis controller come out very soon with a rumble feature and that everyone that bought a current PS3 got screwed on the controllers. Maybe they can make the whole console shake?
