Codemasters will host a stellar showing of exclusive playable reveals at this year’s Games Convention 2007 in Leipzig, Germany, running August 23rd – 26th, 2007.
The ever growing videogame developer and publisher’s showcase booth (Hall 4, F01) will feature playable premieres for Clive Barker’s Jericho™, Turning Point™: Fall of Liberty, new downloadable content for Overlord™, plus the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system edition of hit off-roader Colin McRae: DiRT™. A Codemasters Online area will be dedicated to The Lord of the Rings Online™: Shadows of Angmar™ and feature content update Book 10: The City of the Kings.
“Everyone within Codemasters is extremely excited to have both Clive Barker’s Jericho and Turning Point: Fall of Liberty playable at this year’s Games Convention in Leipzig,” states Rod Cousens, CEO, Codemasters.
“We have very high hopes for both titles and, as we continue to increase Codemasters growing presence, we recognise the significance of allowing our fans and consumers to get an early taste of what’s to come, and this year’s Games Convention in Germany is the perfect opportunity to do so.”
Yesterday we brought you a rumor that Overlord might be coming to the PS3. Today, sadly, we get to bust that rumor. Everyone here at Loot Ninja was pretty excited to see Overlord making the rounds to other consoles, but it’s not meant to be.
A spokesperson from Triumph Studios let this out to Eurogamer:
“We are not porting Overlord to PS3,” a spokesperson told Eurogamer this morning.
There you have it. The job posting is for a new, unannounced title from Triumph that should be hitting the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 sometime next year, if all goes well in development.
Could PS3 users get to fool around with minions in the near future? It seems plausible, giving a recent job posting on the Triumph Studios website for PS3 programmers.
The job posting calls for a coder with PS2 and/or PS3 experience for “Porting X360/PC code base to PS3.” Now let’s think about that for a second. Triumph Studios’ last game (aside from Overlord) was an Age of Wonders expansion in 2003. Unless they have some new, unannounced games coming our way, this job posting most likely means we’ll be seeing Overlord land on the PS3 in the near future.
What do you think? Would you like to see Overlord on other consoles? Personally, I love the game, but I’m not a big fan of ports showing up months or years later for other platforms.
Just got my hands on a copy of Overlord yesterday for the Xbox 360 and had a chance to put a couple of hours in and get a good taste of the game beyond what I had played in the demo. The game is surprisingly open ended in that you can killl innocent people or choose to spare them or even come back later and irradicate them. You are the Overlord and you make the calls.
I got 15 minions right now, which sounds like a lot of minions but you can always use more. The minions are pretty cool in that they sack and pillage for you, but also auto equip any items that they may find along the way, this is great so that you don’t have to worry about equipping each lil guy. I also learned that there are different types of minions, brown, red, blue and green, each with their own attributes. Brown minions are your basic fighters, red minions are like archers shooting fire balls, green are your stealth minions and blue are your healing minions.
The different minions will play different roles in solving different puzzles to progress through levels and you can take control of the different colors and make them do separate actions by using the RB button. The charm of this game will win you over quickly and the demo that is available is a nice way to give you a feel for the game, the demo is actually the first level of the game/ tutorial.
I am looking forward to this title and playing it more in depth to build a legion of minions. Overlord looks so far to be great fun and even has online modes, which i will explore further, a full review to come shortly.
Overlord continues to put a smile on my face, now with the possibility of weapon creation. This just adds another element of customization to the game, which I think makes it even more fun and watching your minions do backflips into the lava… GENIUS!
I’ve been excited for Overlord since I saw the first trailer. I’m not going to lie, having my own minions is my life long dream. One day it will happen in real life. Until then, I’m stuck with the digital version, which is pretty freaking cool.
The graphics in the game are pretty crisp, but nothing mind blowing. Think Kameo-esque. The controls are terrific in the game. You use the right stick to control your minions, which is very fun. Want to knock down that tree over there? Point your right analog stick in that direction and watch those little creatures do their thing. The camera movement is spot on, which is major plus in this type of game.
We're like Spaceballs... we're making Loot Ninja everything. Coming soon we'll have hats, shirts, hoodies, possibly banana hammocks if one Editor has his way...
Check out the shirt prototypes here and the hats here
