BYFSo with all the new football games coming out Tom Brady finally gets one of his own. Superbowl MVP Tom Brady is named the cover player for the #1 kids football video game Backyard Football ‘08, which is slated to be released this Fall.

OK so he didn’t get the cover of Madden or 2K, but hey it could be worse, he could be doing info-mercials for hair products and Backyard Football is actually a pretty fun game, although very cutesy. It will be scheduled to realease on the Wii, DS, PC and PS2.

CM2Cooking Mama 2 is slated for an early 2008 release and will be available exclusively on Nintendo DS and Wii from 505 Games. Although this game made a big splash for Nintendo I did not care for it and found it to be fairly repitive and yet another attempt by Nintendo to push their mni game genre and worst of all was Cooking Mama’s voice.

From the press release:

Due to be served on the Nintendo DS and Wii, Cooking Mama 2 is the sequel to the best-selling cooking simulation game, Cooking Mama, and promises more culinary fun and even tastier gameplay as Mama cooks up a spicy storm with new recipes, twice as many mini-games and an all-new multiplayer mode to challenge other players to a ‘cook off’, Mama style.

StitchSlated to be released in Spring of 2008 Disney Friends sounds to be a take of NintendDogs but with Disney characters. You can interact with Stitch, Simba and other Disney characters as you deprive them of food and excercise. This game boasts to take full advantage of not only the DS touch pad, but also the built in mic, so looks like you will be able to yell at your Disney characters as well.

From the press release:

Disney Friends welcomes players into the worlds of favorite Disney personalities with helpful tips and guidance from the feisty, fun-loving fairy, Tinker Bell. Using the Nintendo DS’ touch screen and microphone with voice recognition, players influence the actions and unique emotional behaviors of the game’s characters and join them on fun adventures in an array of character-specific environments.

I came across this image in a forum and thought it was hilarious on a couple of different levels. One - Who is the target audience for this game? Is it suppposed to make you a better parent kind of like NintenDogs makes you a better dog owner?? Two - Why would Ubisoft waste their time on developing this, I am sure they could have put out a Splinter Cell version of something and made people much happier. Three- Why… just why make this?

Here is a user made video of a Nintendo DS with some custom homebrew games on it. The first game seems to be a rhythm type game while there is also a platformer, a Simon game, a Wipeout clone and a FPS game that looks like Doom. Looks pretty interesting and could provide some fun titles.

I came across this while reading some of the forums at NeoGaf, user Shogmaster (hats off to you man, great design and idea) came up with some sick sketches of a possible new design for the Nintendo DS, which he nicknamed the Nintendo TS.

::Update:: This is just a users rendition not a statement that new DS is in the works, my apologies if this was unclear.

Here it is in all it’s glory. He even threw in some specs and ideas for backwards compatability. I think I would buy one, looks a bit like a Nintendo Sidekick.

Contra 4 Gameplay - DS

taz8080 | 0 Comments

Here is some gameplay footage for Contra 4 for the Nintendo DS. I just can’t get enough of Contra and like seeing and hearing the familiar run and gun on the handheld. All I can ask is for Konami to hook us up with an early copy for review.

D-Gamer is an online community for the Nintendo DS created and supported by Disney. Disney says this community will allow people to chat with other players across the nation and create different avatars as well. To me this looks to be a fancy instant messaging service geared to just kids, but I think Disney needs to be careful that grown weirdos don’t jump into this service and cause some havoc. This service should bomb fairly quick though.

e3.jpgDid you miss the E3 Nintendo conference or had to do yardwork while it was on? Yeah, that sucked, but our friend Ozymandias, who is both a gamer and a well written gaming contributor had these thoughts, which are by far the best I have seen.

  • Demographic numbers were interesting - it’s positive to see the audience broadening, and Nintendo has to be applauded here.
  • The Wii Zapper and Wii Wheel fell extremely flat with the audience - not a single clap of applause, even when announcing they’d be bundled with future games. The magic of the Wii is the pointing controller; embedding it into a shaped piece of plastic just isn’t exciting to me.
  • The “innovative” Metroid control is “more of the same” thinking; aiming in an FPS with the Wii controller is wonky, and adding Z-targeting just doesn’t make it any better.
