Many have asked where are the Wii games?

taz8080 | 1 Comment

Big cup of STFUNintendo is replying – here they are, now shut up!
This is a huge list of games that will put the library of Wii titles close to 150 (not counting Virtual Console games) and the DS titles close to 450.

I thnk Nintendo really wants to show everyone that not only Nintendo developed games are scheduled ot hit the console but also a lot of third party games as well, many have speculated that third party developers would shy away from the unique controls.

Here is the all encompassing list of games scheduled to come out for the Wii and the DS until the first quarter of next year.

Wii
Oct. 1: MLB(R) Power Pros from 2K Sports
Oct. 1: Dragon Blade: Wrath of Fire(TM) from D3Publisher of America
Oct. 2: Crash(R) of the Titans from Sierra Entertainment, Inc.
Oct. 5: Balls of Fury(TM) from DSI Games
Oct. 8: Donkey Kong(R): Barrel Blast from Nintendo
Oct. 9: FIFA 08 from Electronic Arts
Oct. 9: Bleach: Shattered Blade(TM) from SEGA
Oct. 9: LOONEY TUNES: ACME ARSENAL(TM) from WB Games
Oct. 10: Arctic Tale from DSI Games
Oct. 15: Sea Monsters from DSI Games
Oct. 16: Thrillville(R): Off the Rails(TM) from LucasArts

Nintendo at E for All – Showing off its goodies

taz8080 | 1 Comment

Smash Bros BrawlAfter hearing of a lot of people bowing out of the lastest edition of E for All (looks at Sony and MS), it looks like Nintendo is looking to capitalize their monopoly at the E for All Expo now. If you happen to be in the in the Los Angeles area from October 18 to the 20th, you might want to stop by the Convention Center to check out the newest installment of Nintendo games, especially Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Mario Galaxy.

In addition, Nintendo will host a daily Super Smash Bros. Brawl tournament. Competitors get a free Wii-themed T-shirt, and a different T-shirt will be available each day of the show.

Although the lineup is subject to change, the complete list of games for Nintendo systems scheduled to appear at E for All include:

Wii
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Nintendo’s New Wii Zapper – Shotgun Fun

taz8080 | 7 Comments

ZapperSo the Wii Zapper is official now and will go for $19.99. I like to think of it as the Wii shotgun because that is what it looks like and I can see this being real good fun with the Residnt Evil titles. Other publishers are jumping on board htis concept as well like EA with their Medal of Honor series and Sega with their Ghost Squad title. Perhpas this little cheesy case will bring some more hardcore titles to the Wii, becasue I can vouch for the fact that I feel ridiculous playing any games on the Wii that are not sports related.

From the press release:

REDMOND, Wash., Sept. 10, 2007 – Nintendo announced today that the Wii Zapper™ interface for the hit Wii™ home video game system will come packed with Link’s Crossbow Training™. The software is based on the hugely popular Legend of Zelda® series and provides a perfect demonstration of the way the Wii Zapper could be used in other games. The Wii Zapper casing houses both the motion-sensitive Wii Remote™ and Nunchuk™ controllers in a single unit for precision targeting. It goes on sale Nov. 19 at an MSRP of just $19.99.

Zelda Kit Coming to the Wii

fierce Scuba | 5 Comments

zelda-wii.jpg

Nintendo has a mixed history of some add ons. The power pad is still under my bed and the power glove was burned in effigy sometime last decade, but ign.com reports that a sweet add on is coming for the Wii, namely for the Zelda titles.

Here are some pictures of the sword and shield combo. They serve no functional purpose, but for 20 bucks, the assumed asking price, why not?

Happy 100th to the Wii Virtual Console

taz8080 | 1 Comment

100This is one impressive stat, the Wii has added it’s 100th title to the Virtual Console, this is double what is available for the Xbox 360 Live Arcade. Over 4.7 million games have been downloaded since the launch of the Virtual Console back in November.

Here are the top five classic game downloads globally to date:

1) Super Mario Bros. (NES, this was a no brainer, what kid in the 80’s didn’t log a lifetime into this bad boy)
2) Super Mario 64 (N64, Mario with better graphics.)
3) Mario Kart 64 (N64, Mario committing vehicular manslughter, sweetness)
4) Super Mario World (SNES, Mario with Yoshi and a cape, score!)
5) The Legend of Zelda (NES, Link, bombs and a Tri-force, happy days)

Now lets all hope for more regular titles to hit the Wii along with more units to come state side for those of you still searching.

New Mario Strikers Video -Wii

taz8080 | 0 Comments

Finally something to play on the Wii! Maybe this will make me pick up a Wii remote aside from wanting to make Mii’s or play Zelda. This game will be scrutinized on many levels, especially how Nintendo’s online system will work, let’s keep our fingers crossed.

The Vault: Halo Meets Zelda: Ocarina of Time

fierce Scuba | 0 Comments

You need to check out this user video of the entire map of Hyrule recreated in the Halo universe in Halo: Custom Edition. It gets better. The map also has playable characters that look and move like Link and the weapons… the bow, the boomerang, and the hookshot. You need to see it to believe it. Also, how about that fierce 80’s like rock opera!

Wii Sports Review

taz8080 | 0 Comments

Wii sports in my opinion may be one of the best titles to ever ship with a console. This game takes full advantage of the sensor technology developed by Nintendo and gives you five different games to choose from: bowling, tennis, baseball, golf and boxing. Each game is great for a party atmosphere and can be enjoyed by a group of 4 people very easily. The nice thing is the games are simple enough for any non-gamer to get involved yet intricate enough to keep hard core gamers in the mix. Bowling and the baseball are probably my two favorites and the easiest to really get into, the bowling game really mimics the real life version as much as possible and may even make you wonder why you should go to an alley ever again. The games also take advantage of the Mii’s or in game figures you create as players in each sport. Zelda has officially taken a back burner to Wii Sports for now, kudos to Nintendo.

Overall rating : 9.5 out of 10

Loot Ninja Game of the Year

drunk pandas | 2 Comments

Drunk Pandas

So now that 2006 has come to an end, I figure it’s time to pick my game of the year. This year was a tough pick. There’s 4 games all close to that number 1 spot. You’ve got Zelda for Wii, Guitar Hero 2 for PS2, and Final Fantasy XII for PS2 that all came close, but just didn’t cut it. So my winner for the 2006 Game of the Year is Gears of War for the Xbox 360. This game lived up to the hype machine that was created around it. The graphics, gameplay, and story are all amazing. Kudos to Cliffy B and the team at Epic for creating such a great game! Hopefully the trilogy rumors prove to be true.

Hopefully next year PS3 will have some better showings and even come close to the top of the list, as well as PSP and DS (which both had some damn good titles this year).

Jmel

I would have to say that my most enjoyable gaming this year has come with Gears of War. The commercial that came out built up the hype, then I got to go to the event in Chapel Hill, and play the game. I knew at that moment, it was going to be a hot seller. It’s the only game I’ve ever gone back to play a 2nd time or more (I’m on my 3rd time now). The game is not without its flaws, (still voice problems when joining an in session game online) but for the most part it is everything that a next gen game for the 360 should be. The cooperative play, the basic yet fun tactics. It’s just a fun game all around. My runner-ups would be Oblivion which easily defined the bar for the first half of the year, and also oddly, Test Drive Unlimited, which really gives people a peek at what racing games can evolve to in the coming years.

StevenSteel

Although I am limited in the amount of systems I have played, I think Oblivion is by far the game of the year. Even after beating the game and finishing all the achievements, I continue to play the game, download content and extra missions, and hack away at the numerous skill parts for each character. For me in 2006, Oblivion occupied most of my time and kept me glued to the graphics and game play features. Not to take anything away from GOW, because it does have amazing graphics and online features, I just don’t think it has the depth and overall features of Oblivion. I can only hope Elder Scrolls V will be even more in depth and make each time playing the game with a different character just as exciting as the first. I would say my view is skewed though, since I am not a huge fan of online play, I prefer to just sit down and play a game at my own leisure. Purchasing a PS3 is in my near future and hopefully will be able to add more titles to my arsenal.

Taz8080

This year had quite a full lineup for almost every system, the top 4 that stick out in my head overall are Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Gears of War, Rainbow Six Vegas and Dead Rising. I played these all on e the 360 and saw the difference and elevation of game play to the next generation console. I have logged quite a few hours in each and enjoyed them all but I will break down my choice as follow: Rainbow Six Vegas and Marvel ultimate Alliance are great titles that provide good old fashioned online gaming and coop with your buddies. Both titles build off of their predecessors extremely well but in essence are rehashes of older iterations, to me the GOTY has to be original. That leaves Dead Rising and Gears of War, both awesome games that were innovative and tough, while providing a fresh new gaming experience and really puling you into their story. For me this is a tough choice and I would love to go against Gears to be different, but it just provided the full package, I think if Dead Rising would have given me online options I would pick it hands down. My GOTY pick would have to be Gears it lived up to it’s hyped up billing, sorry Dead Rising, but if ripping a man in half with a chainsaw is wrong… I just don’t want to be right.
