Last year, THQ brought us the first real MMA game since, well ever. There were a few attempts in the past, but nothing anyone would consider significant. Then UFC 2009 came along. Although flawed in a few areas, 2009 was very good and we all hoped those shortcomings would be remedied in 2010. Lucky for us, many if not all of them were tweaked in a positive way making 2010 a must have for any MMA fan and much more than a roster update.
What’s a Chuck Liddell? It’s a giant man that will beat the shit out of you. Even though he’s getting old for an MMA fighter, he’s still got some power and skills. I’m looking forward to getting my hands on the full game because I can’t beat Shogun or Rashaad any more in the demo.
Like last year, THQ is putting out a pre-release demo for UFC Undisputed 2010 on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. And yet again, the cover boy is not available in the demo. Starting in a couple weeks, you’ll be able to play Exhibition and Tournament mode with Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, Lyoto Machida, Rashad Evans and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (aka B.A. Baracus).
I was hoping to play as Brock Lesnar in the demo in some big heavyweight brawls, but that will have to wait until the full game drops next month. I guess the light heavyweight division will have to suffice.
Maybe I’ll pull out last year’s game to tool around a bit, especially before the big UFC 112 this Saturday from Abu Dhabi. I’m excited to see four of the fights on the main card this weekend, with the BJ Penn fight being the most anticipated. What about you?
GameTrailers got some off-camera footage of the gameplay in UFC Undisputed 2010 showing off the game’s Tournament mode, which hearkens back to the early days of the UFC. Back when Royce Gracie rocked through multiple fights in one night to win the overall event. I’m happy with the new gameplay types, but I’ve yet to really see any major leaps forward from last year’s game, however, that doesn’t bother me too much. The 2009 version was damn good, other than online play. Will I be buying this day one? Yup.
