After ten previous installments in the incredibly popular TapTap series, Tapulous gives us Revenge: Kings of Leon. I myself have just recently gotten into the games and find that the Guitar Hero/Rock Band feel is perfect for the iPhone. The easy-to-pick-up controls and addictive gameplay make this a series that more than likely won’t lose it’s momentum any time soon. So how does the KOL version stack up against the others? I think that I need to bone up on my Pop-music knowledge. I started this game up and said ‘hey, the Black Eyed Peas! I’ve heard of them! I wonder which songs are theirs?!’ And halfway through the game I felt dumb as hell because I knew all of these songs - I just didn’t know who sang them. But regardless of my musical shortcomings I found myself excited to pick this one up since the idea seemed so easy-going and fun. You have a little ball on a track, keep it on the ribbon. Tapulous makes some nice iPhone rhythm games with the Tap Tap Revenge series. They’re looking to spice things up with Riddim Ribbon, a new rhythm game in a similar vein as Audiosurf. You’ll guide your character along the proper path in time with the music to score points. It definitely looks fun. Here’s to hoping they stick with the $0.99 price point.
