E3 2010: Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Preview

One of my top three fighting games of all time is Marvel vs. Capcom 2. The Dreamcast version got worn out in years past as friends and I spent countless hours beating the hell out of each other. While I enjoy the PSN/XBLA port of the game, I’ve been spending much more time with Super Street Fighter IV. After getting a good deal of hands on time with Marvel vs. Capcom 3 at E3, Spring 2011 can’t come soon enough. The fast-paced frantic multiplayer action is better than ever, especially on the Mad Catz Tournament Fight Sticks plugged in to the consoles at Capcom’s booth. Yes, Capcom is hitting another one out of the park.

Drool Over These New Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Screens

Both myself and BJ went from six to midnight when Capcom announced Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Being huge comic and fighting game fans, it’ll give us a new game to fire up for countless hours and kick the shit out of each other (the current choice being Super Street Fighter IV). Last night, Capcom got us excited more with a new batch of screenshots for the game.

Over at Capcom Unity, the screens were accompanied by quips from MVC3 producer Niitsuma-san explaining their thoughts on the game, including the desire to have a hand-drawn feel that gives you the impression of playing “Moving Comics”. Based on screenshots, they hit the nail on the head.

Please be playable at E3. Please be playable at E3. More screens after the jump.

Marvel vs Capcom 3: Captivate ‘10 Trailer

Fighting games are making their way back to the consoles. There have been some good attempts to really make this genre the most played as it was before FPS took the industry by storm. SF IV was amazing and Super SF IV looks to be even better. With the success of Capcom’s signature fighter and all the Capcom comic to film movies coming out, it is the perfect time to resurrect a once giant of the arcades.
