If there was any doubt that Bungie would not support Halo: Reach like its previous titles because of their letting go of the Halo series, those fears were put out the instant you downloaded the Noble Map Pack. This is their best map pack in years. Three great maps, all different, all designed expertly, and offer a great addition for only 10 bucks.
In case your turkey-induced slumber has caused you to forget, the Halo: Reach Noble Map Pack is now available for your downloading pleasure. Clocking in at 328.6MB and freeing 800 Microsoft Points from your wallet, the three new maps look pretty damn good, in my opinion.
Bungie has some great HD quick looks of each map, embedded after the jump, so take a look before you inevitably make the purchase. I’ve already added the maps to my download queue (an awesome feature of Xbox.com, by the way), and I suggest you do the same. I’ll need someone to snipe later tonight when I fire up the game when I get home.
Call of Duty: Black Ops is without question the biggest multiplayer game on the scene right now. But not too long ago, another monster title dropped on our Xbox 360′s that took up the majority of our gaming time. Do you Remember Reach? Sure you do. If you don’t, someone should smack the shit out of you. But do you really remember the game? Are you still playing it, or has Black Ops taken over your life?
I’m still a big fan of the Daily and Weekly Challenges in Halo: Reach and I’ve always been a big Halo fan, so I’m still going back and playing at least once a week. I personally prefer the Halo action as opposed to the fast paced frantic gunplay of Call of Duty, but I do see the merits of each. I’ve been playing a bit more Black Ops than Reach right now with Black Ops being so new, but over the course of the next few weeks, I can see it evening out and eventually having the pendulum swing back to the Halo: Reach side of things.
What about you? Was your life dominated by Halo: Reach and now it’s just sitting on a shelf collecting dust so you can boost your killstreak enough to get the attack helicopter? Or are you bouncing back and forth between Plasma Grenades and M16′s with noob tubes? Hit us up in the comments — we want to know!
Oh man. This was one of the greatest co-op arcade games of all time! ALL TIME I SAID! Well, besides the Ninja Turtles and Simpsons arcade game.
It’s our weekly musing into the busy lives of our very loyal Loot Ninja readers. For most of us out there it’s the end of another shitty work week. For gamers our week is just getting started (glorious weekend gaming time). We want you all to sound off on all of the great games you are playing at the moment.
While everyone under the goddamn sun is playing Black Ops, I’m continuing my trek through the Halo: Reach single-player campaign – both alone and co-op. It’s a fun ride with no complaints here. Excellent gameplay and shooting mechanics, sort of mindless story (at least for me since I’m not UBER into the Halo stories), and great open driving sequences.
I’m probably not going to be buying Black Ops only for the simple fact that it’s Modern Warfare 2.5 (at least from all of the reviews). I just don’t play military shooters (competitively) like I used to. I played Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and MW2 and the highest rank I reached was 23 on either of them? Yeah, it’s disheartening to see guys with like 10th prestige and shit. No thanks. While I’m sure it’s a fun game, I’ll be looking to spend my money elsewhere to get more out of my games – and actually go back and beat the Modern Warfare 2′s single-player which I have never done.
You guys playing the shit out of Call of Duty: Black Ops? Be sure to let us know what you’re gaming on in the comments below.
With Halo: Reach and Call of Duty: Black Ops both dropping on us in the past few months/day, I have spent the majority of my gaming time on the FPS circuit. This post is not comparing the two for the sole reason of not wanting to start the inevitable flame war. This is a commentary on the Top 5 people I just cannot stand playing with/against in the online community. Whether it’d be Xbox Live or the PlayStation Network, they are there and unfortunately not going anywhere.
You’ve been waiting and completing challenges like a champ. The time is finally here. All 117 million Daily and Weekly Challenges for Halo: Reach have been completed and the level cap will be removed today. Bungie acknowledged the feat on their site today.
It’s going to take a few hours to roll out the changes to all the servers, but rest assured that you’ll be able to get all the way up to General and higher if you’re so inclined. There will not be any more level caps in place, so fire away, friends. Fire away.
I always love it when I find a gamer out there that finds new ways to integrate movies into video games. I mean, game developers do it now with cut scenes that look like they should be movies anyway? But it takes a loyal gamer following to take it to the next level.
Here is one such video that caught my eye. It does an absolutely epic job of splicing together both the movie Inception and Halo: Reach. Obviously this video has some love thrown into it and you can see the details of the almost frame by frame comparison of the movie trailer to this game trailer. Check it out!
Anyone who thought Bungie would be ignoring Halo: Reach because it is their last Halo game can gaze upon this trailer. Three new maps are on the way. Obviously a day 1 download. And… it has been confirmed there will be more achievements as well. Eff. Yes.
Always the shrewd and creative, Bungie has dated the oft asked lifting of the level cap. Well, sort of dated. The cap will be lifted in November according to their weekly update. Why November? That is when Halo: Reach gamers will have completed 117 million daily and weekly challenges. Why 117? Come on.
All the statistics and trends put this date smack in the middle of November so the faster we beat challenges, the faster all of you can stop glowing red with anger as your Lt. Col Grade 3 ranking continues to mock you.
Halo: Reach is getting its first batch of DLC on November 30th when Microsoft and Bungie release the Noble Map Pack. Three new maps will be available that’ll run you a cool 800 Microsoft Points (that’s $10 in case you’re too lazy to do math). For those of you wanting more than the nine maps that shipped with Reach, this is your chance for official Bungie love. Along with the maps, you’ll get 250 Achievement points to each, which will most likely be map-specific requirements. For all the details and screenshots, click on through.
