What Are You Playing? (Carrot Top Is Blanka Edition)

Mortal Kombat just came out this week, and I was looking for something MK related for the picture, but I simply couldn’t pass up this incredible Blanka comparison to Carrot Top. I see some similarities here. Oh, and don’t fuck with Carrot Top. He’s funny with his trunk of gags, but if you smart off during his act he’ll likely fold you in half and put you inside it.

It’s our weekly musing into the busy lives of our very loyal Loot Ninja readers. For most of the working folk out there it’s the end of another shitty work week. For us gamers out there our week is just getting started (glorious weekend gaming time).

We here at Loot Ninja want you all to sound off here on all of the great games you’re playing at the moment. Did you just get a new game wrapped in cellophane? Are you in the middle of something right now – (Mortal Kombat or Portal 2?) – or are you trying to finish off a title and start on your next great adventure? Loot Ninja wants to know!

I reviewed the shit out of Portal 2 this week, and if you haven’t picked up the game, it’s probably time. It’s that damn good. In cased you missed it, you can read my review here. Great pacing, memorable characters, incredible voice work, and getting back into the boots of Aperture Science sets Portal 2 apart from anything you’ve ever played before. I implore you to try and find characters that are as well fleshed out as GlaDOS and Wheatley. That’s two characters! Most games don’t even include one character this well-drawn and laid out. Plus, you could also throw in Cave Johnson in the mix as another voice that adds character, charm, and history to the experiments going on in the test labs.

On a completely different sidenote (okay, so it was on Netflix), I finished my walk in the dark, twisted woods of Twin Peaks. 30 episodes of this show wasn’t enough, and I’m a little let down by the ending of the final episode. The show was rushed towards the end with the network breathing down the creators throats, manipulating them into revealing Laura Palmer’s killer too soon, and then running the series into the ground. I hate you TV networks. Why can’t you just leave certain shows alone. Why do they always have to be tweaked, and changed, and put pressure on to please businessmen who know nothing about what the public wants, instead focusing on stupid ratings and meaningless market share. It’s just sad really. Hopefully the follow-up prequel movie Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me sheds some light on the series better than the ending to the TV run did. (fingers crossed)

That’s about it for me this week. What the hell have you guys been up to and been playing over the last two weeks? Be sure to let me know what you’re gaming on in the comments…..

I just finished up Fable 3. It was fun but the series is getting stale.

I’m about to start/continue/finish GTA4 finally. With the summer coming up, its time to knock out those great games i’ve been putting off.

As far as tv, not too much. Been rewatching the Wire again and waiting for college and pro football to start up again.

I almost got portal 2 but put it off since I have so many games sitting around. Still playing Zelda phantom hourglass and actually downloaded majora’s mask on the virtual console for the heck of it. It’s better than I remember so now I’m stuck with another game I need to finish. Anyone else getting a 3ds? I’m thinking of getting one in the next few months when some decent games come out.

Picked up Mortal Kombat today after trading in a bunch of older games. (They were offering an extra 25% on trade ins if traded towards MK.) Had an extra $20 left in credit left over so I picked up some xbox live points for good measure.

On a side note, I tried to trade in a copy of fight night round 3 and the kid at the counter said sorry sir, we can’t buy this, it’s worth a penny.
