What Are You Playing? (3DS Amputee Edition)

Nice Nintendo. Way to promote that you think all black people have detachable arms. How you also prefer it if they didn’t have arms. That’s just flat out racist. Just don’t be surprised everybody when you see a slew of black people in news stories without arms. It’s all your fault Nintendo!

It’s our weekly musing into the busy lives of our very loyal Loot Ninja readers. For most of the working folk out there it’s the end of another shitty work week. For us gamers out there our week is just getting started (glorious weekend gaming time).

We here at Loot Ninja want you all to sound off here on all of the great games you’re playing at the moment. Did you just get a new game wrapped in cellophane? Are you in the middle of something right now – (Valet Parking: 1989 or My Baby First Steps?) – or are you trying to finish off a title and start on your next great adventure? Loot Ninja wants to know!

Man, I tell you, I always love looking at the thread of people who post about what are they playing, and then a discussion erupts. It’s a good feeling that on this small miniscule piece of the interwebs among all of the midget shit porn and wannabe singers on Youtube, that you guys actually post comments on our little website. It’s a good feeling. It shows we reached a few of you guys out there somehow.

As far as gaming goes? I haven’t played shit. I talked about what I have been playing mostly on the latest episode of Twisted Gamer Radio (including titles like Moon Diver, The Underground, and downloading the SOCOM 4 BETA for an hour), so theirs really not a whole lot else to go over. If you really want to know what I’ve been doing over the past week, it’s been watching Netflix on the PS3. I recently got hooked on the 90′s hit TV show Twin Peaks. It’s definitely one of those shows that sucks you in and you don’t want to do anything other than watch another episode. So this weekend you’ll bet your ass I’m watching the remaining 15 episodes in season 2.

It’s cool to watch this show after the fact, because now I can really go through and dissect the connections to Alan Wake - the game in which the developers pull heavily from this show. Often times they mention a “darkness out in the woods” and that they feel like the “woods are not as they seem” as well as “owls not as they seem”. There are shots that show a tall fur tree swaying in the heavy breeze (a signature sign of the impending Taken in Alan Wake). I feel as though when I see scenes inside the Great Northern Lodge in Twin Peaks, that I will see Alan and Al slide by in the background as they head to the dining hall, their room, or out to the saw mill.

If you haven’t had a chance to check this show out, what have you got to lose? It’s free on Netflix in the instant streaming section. It gets a little tired and groggy late in the second season because your just wondering how this show can sustain it’s flavor for so long, but really it’s because it’s all about this one girl’s murder: Laura Palmer. Highly suggest going back and looking for cool tie-in’s to Alan Wake. I might have to go back and play the Xbox 360 exclusive to see if there are a few more hidden gems to relate to Twin Peaks.
