When the first next gen iteration of GTA was made aware to all of us, a return to Liberty City or bizarro NYC, most of us liked the idea. This brought the series back to where it made its quantum leap from 2D to sandbox. The job recreating NYC by Rockstar was nothing short of astounding and for those of us who grew up in or around NYC could really appreciate the massive attention to detail. NYC has a massive amount of history, landmarks, and a vast area to play around in. Los Angeles on the other hand, does not.
This is not a case of East Coast bias, but I can’t get excited over GTA: LA. Los Angeles is a cool city, but does not hold a candle to the other major cities in the country in terms of landmarks. The big ass sign doesn’t count. Chicago, Boston, hell, even dogshit Philly would get a nod. GTA will not stay in the Northeast however and this is why GTA: LA is believable. San Andreas was an amazing game, but was a mixture of a few different cities. The game spanned almost the entire middle coast of California and I really doubt Rockstar is going to do this all over again. Miami was a great scene, but has been done. I was really hoping that GTA would go abroad.
How cool would GTA be if it took place in places like London? Where you could go all over Europe and really cause hell? What about the Far East? Can you imagine the shit you could get into in places like Vietnam or Thailand? How about Rio de Janiero? I would like to see something new this time around and though we are still at the rumor stage, GTA: LA has me wishing for something else.

I dont care were the make it. GTA Barstow would be good with me. just so long as it comes out.
deep down, we all know we’ll buy whatever comes next in the gta series. yes, there will be bitching and cries of “i could do better”, “this should be in X city”, and “we need X instead of Y, fix it!!” but those people will either pre-order or be in line for the release.
