Raven Software Working On “International Movie License”

I’ve come to the conclusion that people have WAY too much time on their hands. Case and point: If you can go through and look at, add ALL of the game development industries profile for every single studio, you need a hobby. How about you play video games?

But for some reason people like looking at that crap? Sometimes the employee at “said gaming company” will divulge a little bit too much information on their profile or resume and something will get leaked out. That’s the case of this story, where a LinkedIn profile for the creative director for Raven Software sparks the fire for yet another James Bond game in development.

Last December, there was a rumor going around that a new James Bond game was in the pipeline. The game was a step away from the massive shootouts and gun elements we’ve seen in recent Bond games, going more in the direction of being heavy on the stealth elements. It was rumored to be in development at Raven Software, the Madison, Wisconsin based shop behind games like Singularity, the Wolfenstein: Return to Castle Wolfenstein reboot, and X-Men: Ultimate Alliance.

Things ultimately died down. The trail went cold. No more information was shared, but later, we got word that a new James Bold film was set to begin shooting later this year. Activision loves those movie tie-in games, so eyebrows were again raised this week when the LinkedIn resume of a Raven Software employee posted his position as “Creative director [on a] unreleased international movie license action/adventure game at Raven Software.” He also goes on to say that he’s “involved at highest levels of game design for an unreleased high-profile movie-license action/adventure game using the Unreal 3 engine.” The resume then lists the game as having been in development for a year and 8 months.

This could also be a Transformers title, as the third movie in Jerry Bruckheimer’s series is set to release sometime this year. But “international movie license”? Don’t know how many Transformers fans they have out there (after the second Megan Fox ass and explosion-fest), but everyone knows about the sulky smooth James Bond MI-6 agent.

Raven has worked on a film tie-in before (a semi-decent effort) in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, as Activision holds the X-Men film tie-in license. Let’s just hope it’s better than Blood Stone and a few other Bond titles that need to be forgotten.

We’ll keep our ears to the ground for you guys and keep you updated if we here any more on the Bond front.
