With Black Ops Here, Do You Remember Reach?

Call of Duty: Black Ops is without question the biggest multiplayer game on the scene right now. But not too long ago, another monster title dropped on our Xbox 360′s that took up the majority of our gaming time. Do you Remember Reach? Sure you do. If you don’t, someone should smack the shit out of you. But do you really remember the game? Are you still playing it, or has Black Ops taken over your life?

I’m still a big fan of the Daily and Weekly Challenges in Halo: Reach and I’ve always been a big Halo fan, so I’m still going back and playing at least once a week. I personally prefer the Halo action as opposed to the fast paced frantic gunplay of Call of Duty, but I do see the merits of each. I’ve been playing a bit more Black Ops than Reach right now with Black Ops being so new, but over the course of the next few weeks, I can see it evening out and eventually having the pendulum swing back to the Halo: Reach side of things.

What about you? Was your life dominated by Halo: Reach and now it’s just sitting on a shelf collecting dust so you can boost your killstreak enough to get the attack helicopter? Or are you bouncing back and forth between Plasma Grenades and M16′s with noob tubes? Hit us up in the comments — we want to know!

Man, I have always been a huge Halo fan. I just recently bought Black Ops, and just like you it’s taken up pretty much all of my time. I want to still play Halo, but I always walk away from it.. disappointed. Ever since Halo 2 it just hasn’t been the same for me. Halo 2 was ‘the swan song’; not Reach. I used to hate CoD, but the customization in Black Ops is turning me into a huge fan. I just feel like Halo hasn’t evolved gameplay wise like it should have. A terrible shame.

  2. Since AC: Brotherhood just showed up this week, I have been playing that instead of COD/Halo.

I’ll revisit those soon enough. Needed a little break from FPS.

Thing is there’s always something new each and everytime you go back to Halo!

Reach all the way baby. I’ve tried playing Black Ops online. I personally feel that it is unbalanced with all the kill streaks, weapon custimization, etc. I don’t know, maybe I just didn’t give it enough time but Reach, to me, is perfect, well, if they made sprint a default ability, then it would be perfect. Can you imagine having the jet pack and sprint together.?.?

I guess my thing is that Halo 2 was the perfect Halo experience for me. And so I try and compare everything with that perfect experience, and that’s where it falls short. Don’t get me wrong; I love Reach. I went all out on Reach. But Halo 2 is always something I fall back on when I’m scrutinizing current FPS such as Reach. I’ll probably come back to Reach when Bungie finally gets that MLG Arena playlist up.

I own both consoles and bought both games, Halo: Reach and Cod:Black Ops Prestige Edition. I loaned my XBOX console to a friend so I could focus on Black Ops for awhile and I plan to start Reach duing the Christmas break. I was a big enough Halo fan to buy the game soundtrack but I got hooked on MW2 and have not gone back yet. For me XBOX = HALO and PS3 = Black Ops. I have tried Assassins Creed and AVP but with Halo and CoD there just really isn’t room in my life for any more games.
