Review: Kung Fu Rider

If there was one game I was not excited to play that Sony sent with the PlayStation Move, it was Kung Fu Rider. Based on everything I’ve seen and heard, I expected a rather long and arduous review session. That exception was spot on as I did not enjoy a single moment with Kung Fu Rider. Want to find out why? You know the drill.

This review is going to be very short — there is very little I can say about the game that I enjoyed. The graphic styling reminded me a lot of PAIN, but Kung Fu Rider is nowhere near as fun. You shake the Move controller to speed up your character, point left or right to turn, jerk the controller up to jump (which often happens inadvertently when you’re trying to speed up), or press various buttons to lean under obstacles, boost through enemies, or roundhouse kick people to the gut. For simplistic controls, it feels overly complex and there’s just no fun in it.

Level design is boring as you go down a path kicking, jumping and boosting your way to the end. Trust me, you won’t want to play this one. If you’re picking up a PlayStation Move, stay far far away from Kung Fu Rider. It’s ridiculous that the retail price on this game is $39.99. I wouldn’t even recommend it at $10.
