I grew up a big comic book fan. Every week, I’d have my Dad drive me down to the local comic book store where I’d have new issues waiting for me. I’ll admit, I’ve always been more of a DC fan than a Marvel fan, but Marvel definitely has some endearing characters that I checked out on the regular. With LittleBigPlanet’s announcement of Marvel DLC, I decided it was time to hop back into Sackboy’s world for a bit, since I hadn’t been there in quite a long time. The Marvel Level Kit and Costume Packs provide a good deal of fun, but should you buy them? Read on, folks.

The Level Kit gives you 4 new Levels, 1 Background, 3 Music files, 24 CREATE ojects, and 156 Stickers — not bad for a $4.99 DLC pack. The four new levels take you through a hero vs villain story as Sackboy needs to save the world. Being a comic book fan, these are certainly some of my favorite levels in the game, and I’ve gone through and played them all multiple times (still trying to get a few stickers). For those of you on the creative side, the kit provides a ton of great content for making some badass levels. I tend to stick with the “Play” aspect in “Play Create Share”, but I did enjoy the new items when tooling around the level creator.

If you’re like me and don’t usually do much on the creation side of things in LittleBigPlanet, this Level Kit may not be for you. Sure, you get four new levels, but if you aren’t a comic book fan, just pass on through. For Marvel fans and fans of LBP, $5 isn’t too much to play the new levels. However, you can play with the content in levels other people make, so keep that in mind. Creators: buy it now. Players: buy if you’re a big comic book and Marvel fan. Everyone else: just enjoy the cool Marvel levels people make online.
