This iPhone FPS takes you from your office cubicle, straight into the murderous locales of prehistoric Pangea. Ward off dinosaurs to survive, or hunt them for your Trophy wall. Does it have enough bang for the buck? Hit the jump to find out.
This game offers two modes of gameplay: Hunt and Survive. Hunting is a free-roaming, kill all you want extravaganza. Choose your map, choose your prey, choose your weapon, and kill ‘em all. Not bad stress relief after desk-jockeying all day. Survive throws the player into a narrow ravine at the choke-point. Your mission? Avoid becoming Dino-Kibbles. A frenzied rush of Jurassic beasts rushes you in ever increasing waves. Kill them, or die, they really make no bones about it. *snicker*
Controls and menu navigation are very simple. You select your mode, your map, your weapon, and get to killin’. However, there are multiple variables that affect your scoring possibilities. As a hunter, you have more than your weapon at your disposal. There is radar, cover scent, camouflage, and tranquilizer darts. Each of these, if equipped and utilized, will affect your score via a percentage. For instance, hunting with no radar and no cover scent will yield a higher potential score than hunting with these tools in use. Also, without using these tools, you have to approach your prey with great care, noting wind direction, line of sight, choke points on the map, and taking precautions to not walk into a trap. These dinos are both smart and fast, touting a very impressive AI engine that I have not seen on an iPhone game before.
All told, you have at your disposal 5 huge environments, 2 modes of gameplay, a barrage of 6 weapon types, and 15 types of dinosaurs to wipe off the Earth at your leisure. This makes for hours of dino-murdering fun, and plenty of fun times in survival mode with the integrated social networking integration so you can post your high scores for your buddies to compete against. This is a solid buy at $2.99.
