The first downloadable content for Heavy Rain, dubbed The Taxidermist, was set to ship much earlier than it did. But because of the game’s freezing glitches and other issues, developers had to refocus their attention, delaying The Taxidermist by a few weeks. Those of you who picked up the Limited Edition of the game got this one for free, but everyone else has to shell out $4.99. Is The Taxidermist worth your ducats? Keep reading.

This review will be just as short as The Taxidermist itself, which took me a total of 15 minutes to complete. The DLC serves as a prequel to Heavy Rain with Madison Paige investigating a local taxidermist to see if he may be the Origami Killer. Turns out he’s not, but he isn’t a great guy either. There are six possible endings, all of which detailed at the closing screen of the DLC. I’ve seen four of them, all right around an hour of total gameplay. It’s interesting and fun, albeit over too quickly.

While The Taxidermist is solid, it’s entirely too short and too much money for content that has been used as a media demo for the past few years. Couple that with the fact that whenever I quit to the game’s main menu from the DLC, it reinstalls the game data (about 15 minutes) every time. This DLC should have been released at $2.99. If you bought the Limited Edition of Heavy Rain and got this for free, by all means fire it up and play. But if you are just looking for more from the game, I would pass on The Taxidermist.
