Ubisoft, thank you for starting the revolution. Paper game manuals have been untouched, at least in my house, since my first video game purchase. I’ve looked at a few when bored, but they never provide any guidance for my gaming life. I’ve always relied on in-game help menus for controls and asked friends or looked online for info when stuck. Going forward, Ubisoft won’t be making paper manuals for Xbox 360 and PS3 games. Wii games were not mentioned in the press release, so my guess is they’ll still get paper manuals.
In-game digital versions of the manuals will start with Shaun White Skateboarding in Holiday 2010. That’s not enough reason for me to want to buy that game. I don’t know what it is, but Shaun White annoys the shit out of me. It could be the hair, it could be his douchey attitude. I’m not totally sure and I’m not all that concerned. The game could be the best skateboarding game ever, but having him associated just bothers me.
To go even greener, Ubisoft is revamping their DVD packaging for PC games, starting with Splinter Cell Conviction on April 27th. Since their PC games have included digital game manuals for a while, this isn’t anything new for those gamers. Maybe Ubisoft can revamp their broken PC DRM scheme while they’re changing the DVD cases…

lol I have a friend that met Shaun White while snowboarding in Utah and she said he acted like he was a god among men. Personally he always seemed like a chill guy but I can imagine him and his Carrot Top Mop being Biggest Douchebag in the Universe nominee’s
