It is the end of an era. All Xbox Live service will be cut of permantly for any Xbox 1 console and ALL Xbox 1 games. Yes, the includes Halo 2 for those still playing. Also, Star Wars Battlefront II is getting the death sentence. I can’t say that I am surprised or really affected for that matter as my Xbox 1 has not been turned on for years. Nevertheless, any Xbox 1 game that is compatible on the 360, including any game you may have downloaded such as the Xbox Originals, will be cut off from service. Pour out a little Game Fuel on this sad day.

Fucking bullshit.
Like it or not. It’s the right move. In the official letter he mentions it’s being done to help the growth of xbox live that was being restrained from Xbox originals. Things like no cap on the friends list were incompatible with v1 Xbox. now the cap can be removed, prolly the most requested feature from 360 live users.
There are many new features Microsoft wants to incorporate that were being hindered by the limitations of the first incarnation of Xbox Live. With that out of the way, they’re free to explore whatever possibilities are out there.
My only hope is that the current version of Xbox Live is scalable and adaptable so that these things don’t happen in the next generation.
Love how they came out with Halo 2 for download with that overhaul update. They knew damn well no one downloaded that game for the single player mode. Just had to milk it for all its worth before pulling the plug.
