The tried and true match-three puzzle genre has seen its fare share of games. Tetryon for the iPhone looks to add a bit of variety to the genre with chain reactions and volatile wildcard glyphs as you fulfill the requirements of each new level. Is it enough to make you want to drop ducats? Let’s find out.

Tetryon features 62 total levels broken into three main chapters, with each level having different requirements and a different board layout. You’ll use 75 different glyphs and 10 different volatiles to achieve the goal of each level, such as getting a certain number of chain reactions or clearing a certain number of glyphs.

The big question: is Tetryon worth the $1.99 asking price. In short, if you like the match-three genre and need something to pass the time, yes it is. There isn’t any ground-breaking new gameplay elements here and the robotic sounds can get annoying after a while, but you can turn the volume down or mute if you like. I would have liked to see some leaderboards or other ways to share and compete with friends, but overall, Tetryon offers solid puzzle gameplay for your money.
