Mothership Zeta Almost Unplayable

Mothership Zeta

After completing the previous 4 Fallout expansions (Operation Anchoarge, The Pitt, Broken Steel, and Point Lookout), I decided that I may as well pick up Mothership Zeta since it is rumored to be the final Fallout DLC before the next game comes out next year.

After playing for about an hour or two, the Health Stations (used instead of Stimpacks) didn’t work when my character ran through them. I thought that maybe this particular station was broken so I ignored it and progressed to the next one. However, when that station didn’t work either, I decided that reloading the game to an earlier point should fix the problem.

To my surprise, the Health Stations now decided that healing my player was overrated. I figured that I should just re-download the expansion and maybe that would clear up all of the errors. Well, after re-downloading the game, my character could finally interact with the Stations, but I would get a lovely message telling me that the Station is re-charging and can’t be used (I had never used it).

As of right now, Mothership Zeta is unplayable for me. Without the use of Health Stations, I find myself running out of Stimpacks as there are none to be found on the ship. If anyone is debating picking up this expansion, I would advise to wait until Bethesda clears up this fairly large glitch that plagues the gameplay. I had planned on writing a mega-review on all of the expansions, but that will have to wait until Bethesda decides to fix Mothership Zeta.

  1. Bethesda seems to have a bad track record with DLC…

Yep. The Pitt had that loading issue that equally sucked.

I’m not feeling encouraged to jump into Fallout’s DLC… I haven’t even played Anchorage yet. I’m not sure when I’ll get geeked about picking it back up again. The problem is that the first two were so good, I would rather play old FO 1 & 2 content than new 3 content, lol. I have had fun with the F0 3 mods, though.

If you want to know how to best spend your money, the top two expansions are Broken Steel + Point Lookout (I’ll have a writeup about all 5 soon).

  3. Strange, works fine on the PC with no issues for me. Pretty good piece of DLC, too, I just wish you could “go back” once you were done - kind of like Anchorage.

Actually you can go back to the ship once you are done, it drops a beacon where the alien ship at the Capital Wasteland that you can use to return to the ship after completion.

The healing things didn’t seem to heal for much, however click on the machine and choosing to modify it will cause it to heal the user to full it will however burn out the machine after 3-4 uses.

Bethesda doesn’t just have problems with dlc, look a elder scrolls 4, when it was released it glitched so bad. Bethesda makes good games but too many goddam glitches.

I know it’s cool to B*tch on the net about how everything could be cooler if… But I am really enjoying this DLC. Not as mind shattering cool as Point Lookout but still rocks in my book. The graphics seem better than the normal game, the Aliens present my level 30 chix a challange. Whats not to like?
For those complaining about glitches; how in worlds’ this vast and interactive, with hundred’s of thousands of items(inventory pick ups) to track are you not going to have glitches. Bethesda builds WORLDS to play in, not puny FPS levels! With each game their system gets better and better. I’ll take 100+ hours of “glitchy-ness” over 8 hours of “perfection” anyday.
