Maxim: 50 Cent Game Better Than Killzone 2 and Street Fighter

One of the best selling men’s magazines in the world has just released their review of 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand and they have rated it better than both Killzone 2 and SF IV. Yeah, that just happened. Killzone 2 got 3.5 of 5 circles (they use circles instead of stars), SF IV received 3 of 5 and 50 Cent received 4 of 5. Since I have not played any of the games yet, I cannot honestly say that they are wrong, but really? If this is true, expect Sony fanboys to be jumping from bridges everywhere.

I think another site has commented on this already. Apparently the reviewer for the online version of Maxim isn’t publishing his review until Feb. 2 because of the publishing embargo that was placed on anyone who recevied/played a review copy. Which makes us wonder, how exactly did this review get published if in fact the person who wrote actually played the game? Hasn’t Maxim already been busted for posting reviews of music and software based upon singles and pics?

@Bones - Review code has been out for a while, but you’re right, it is under embargo. Would it surprise me if Maxim broke it to just throw their score up there? Not really.

Does anyone who plays games REALLY care about Maxim game reviews? Men buy Maxim for one thing and ONE THING ONLY, and its NOT VIDEO GAME REVIEWS. Trust me. This is laughable at best. It’s like the equivalent of a video game magazine having a celebrity gossip column right in the middle of the magazine, in between a Vicotiras Secret ad and a cologne ad. Laughable.

Who even knew Maxim reviewed games? Are they even real gamers over there or do they do this once in a while, and then go back to catering us with hot ladies.

I laugh at this. maxim is far from a reliable gaming source. this proves it.

Given Guerilla’s track record, this score wouldn’t surprise me at all (I agree Maxim is not a reliable source, but don’t be surprised if this game gets an aggregate of around 80%). Sony has really made a mess of this games release and raised serious ethical questions. How did The Official Playstation Magazine give the game 100 when the game went through at least two revisions since they wrote the review? Sony issued two “review code” copies so far to journalists and now we find out that the game just went gold yesterday - meaning it went through at least one more revision since game journalists reviewed it. Why release review code so early if they place an embargo on it anyway and the game goes gold in plenty of time for journalists to review it before release???
