So it looks like a couple more games are headed to come on board the growing XBLA games portfolio. This time around there coming from developers Rubicon - creators of the XBLA game Novastorm. Let’s see what’s going on with these two titles yeah?

First off let me say that it seems odd to me that the arcade is getting another pool game. And not only that, but Basement Pool is releasing with only five modes - Bankshot Billiards is already out with nine! Why on earth would you release a game with less options right off the bat with less to offer than your already established competition. Rubicon states that they will release more modes as DLC, but who knows if A). Will it be free, and B). Will the new modes be worth it. I’m always weary of companies that sound like they are withholding already existing content to make more scratch off a game. I’m not saying that I won’t give the game a fair shake, but with pre-release moves like these ones confidence can be shaken quite easily.

Secondly there’s Shotest shogi - which there isn’t much to speak of. Not because of any lack of anticipation mind you, Shogi is a game as old as time itself (and much more popular in many places than chess even though it’s seen as a more complex variant). Being a chess fan myself - although not that good really - I cannot wait for Shotest to come around. And for those of you who don’t have the faintest idea what I’m talking about, no worries - it comes with a tutorial so breath easy.

So that’s it for now!

Durka!!
