Crackdown 2 – Details Revealed

Crackdown 2 is one of the great titles that I am eagerly waiting for, and new details have been unveiled by magazine Game Informer. Ruffian Games, a studio comprised of ex-employees of original Crackdown developer Realtime Worlds, is working on this sequel, which sees you decimating infected, zombified, virus-laden citizens, in a city overrun by a viral outbreak of epic proportions.

The citizens of Pacific City have gone crazy/nutso/zombie at a molecular level due to the virus, and organized crime takes a back seat, due to the sheer chaos and mayhem that ensues downtown. New buildings have arisen and huge changes to the city make your world a familiar, but very ”post-apocalyptic” place to wreak your havoc.

Anyways, come to find out, the cause of all of this madness is yourself, as Creative Director Billy Thomson told Game Informer that “One of the Shai-Gen missions actually had a research lab that hid all of these freaks inside of it.” When the virus spreads, the Agency that you worked for in the original Crackdown is overwhelmed, and they lost control to the hordes of infected citizens. An underground tactical strike team called The Cell rose to power in the meantime, and your game begins at the last bastion of Agency power as you face this rather macabre situation.

Tackling the game on your own or in an up-to-four-player co-op mode, Crackdown 2 promises a lot more diversity in the missions, based around an ‘influence’ system that has effects on the city based on your actions, be they good or bad. There are new rewards for leveling up in your skill sets as well, such as unlocking new vehicles (a helicopter is rumored), or enabling the new special ”dash” move. There are also multiple new weapons, including a new shotgun that shoots a beam of UV light to broil the flesh off the zombified masses.

Throw in a 16-player competitive online mode, and this game is sounding pretty freakin’ awesome, and I can’t wait to see this gameplay.

Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack #3

CoD World at War Map Pack 2 Screen

The third map pack for Call of Duty: World at War is scheduled for release today. This latest offering of n00b PWNING glory will feature three multiplayer maps (Battery, Revolution, and Breach), and one new Zombie map (Der Riese).

Below is the info provided by Treyarch:

Battery: Fight for ocean territory on an armored island surrounded by anti-ship mines and shore to ship cannons.

Revolution: Watch out for sniper fire as you defend Russia’s most coveted resource.

Breach: Keep a sharp eye out through the dense, overcast city streets, set at Berlin’s historic Brandenburg Gate. A lot of you will remember the original COD map “Dome” that takes place inside the Reichstag, which can be seen in the background, and on the fringes of ”Breach”.

Der Riese: This new zombie map is set in a Nazi research facility featuring the weapon upgrading Pack-A-Punch Machine. Use the teleporters to escape in an instant and fight to the death in pursuit of the map’s 10 new Zombie Achievements.

Call of Duty: World at War with Nazi Zombies

Recently revealed on Gametrailers TV, developer Treyarch talks about a brand spanking new game mode for Call of Duty: World at War and it’s called Nazi Zombie Mode. That is right, Nazi freakin Zombie Mode, this is no joke. The extra game mode isn’t unlocked until you have defeated the single player campaign.

The mode will sport a basic economy where you can purchase weapons and board up windows to try and keep the zombies out.  It is a 4 player cooperative game with an infinite amount of zombie waves.  Basic communication will be required between you and your teammates to stay alive.  Since there are infinite waves of zombies how can you tell if you really are kicking ass?  Well the developers have given you a personal goal, they have reached level 23 themselves.  If you reach level 24 you should probably step outside for a break as you have spent more time than the developers on the game and that’s sad.
