YouTube to Sell Video Games Soon

Who doesn’t watch videos of people getting hit in the junk on YouTube? Don’t lie!

Well looks like now you will get the opportunity to not only watch your funny obscure videos but also purchase video games as well. There will be an integration in video game clips to give users the option to purchase full titles from sites like Amazon. So the next time you watch a leaked trailer for Gears of War 2 you can jump over and put an order in for it as well.

I like the idea, but I just don’t see myself using this option very often, will you be scouring YouTube and buying games?

YouTube, the world’s most popular video-sharing site, will start to sell music and video games and experiment with new advertising formats to grow revenue, executives said on Tuesday.

The Google-owned business is taking the first steps toward building an e-commerce service through which it will sell music, films, TV shows, video games, books, concert tickets and other media-related products featured on the millions of videos on YouTube.

Visitors to YouTube.com can buy songs from music videos they watch on the site by clicking on buttons that take them either to Amazon.com Inc’s MP3 store or Apple Inc’s iTunes store.

YouTube users will also be able to buy video games, such as Electronic Arts Inc’s sci-fi game “Spore” through the Amazon link.

Gamestop Uses Bathroom for Storage

There was a video showing some footage of a restroom being used as a storage location for everyones favorite video game store, Gamestop, unfortunately it has been pulled off of Youtube. Think of the potential of the next time you hug your copy of Madden or GTA and where it might have been or when you are opening your next console box. One can only imagine the amount of fecal material that is floating around just lying all over your goods. I can only hope that this is not typical for every Gamestop as this is unsanitary and bad business practice. What do you think?

Depending on your level of “germophobia,” you may want to look away from the above video. What you’re seeing is “spy cam” footage of the inside of a GameStop employee restoom, and yes, it looks like it’s where they store some of their consoles.

Disgusting? Maybe. Depends on how much faith you put in the ability of a GameStop employee to not miss the bowl, I suppose. Here’s a news flash, though — an endless warehouse does not lie beyond the metal door that sits at the back of most retail stores, GameStops included. Considering the number of SKUs being dumped onto retail, space for storing inventory is a precious commodity. And have you seen the size of the box that Guitar Hero World Tour comes in?

Sony Integrates YouTube Uploads into PS3

YouTube

That recent firmware update for the PS3 did a little more than Sony said. It added the YouTube API for allowing in-game uploads to your YouTube account. This is one damn cool feature that I hope a lot of games start to take advantage.

Imagine coming up with a really cool level in Little Big Planet or having a crazy moment in Resitance 2. Instead of just telling people about it, you could immediately upload a clip to YouTube to share with the world.

Right now, the only game to take advantage is Mainichi Issho, a free Japanese PSN title that was released way back in November 2006. No official word on what other games will take advantage of this feature. We’ll keep you posted.
