Blastacular Map Pack Fixed

halo-2.jpgBungie released a statement to say that all the incompatibility between the xbox and xbox360 has been fixed. Another possible scenario is people on a silver account trying to download as if they were on a gold account. Either way, the map pack is up and ready to be downloaded problem free. Unfortunately, the map pack is not free, you still gotta pay.

Xbox360 Godfather Peter Moore Interview

peter-moore.jpgOur pals at 1up.com sat down with Peter Moore, the big daddy of all things Xbox for a follow up to the very in-depth to his interview there one year ago. He answers questions such as: What is next for Xbox and the next next gen, the problems with the voice chat and product failure issue, backwards compatibility and much more. If you own an Xbox product, you should definitely give this a read over.

Halo Releases Blastacular Map Pack Today

halo-2.jpgBungie, trying to whet the palates of its avid fan base, has released yet another map pack for both the Xbox and Xbox360. Gamereports.com reported today that the map pack is finished and ready for download. The two maps, Tombstone and Desolation should bring about some mayhem while we all wait for Halo 3 beta. This will cost 4 bucks and not Microsoft points because it is really based on Xbox for obvious reasons. Its technically not on the Marketplace, but the xbox interface. Honestly, I think they should have been free because Halo 2 has been out for about 4 years, but people gotta eat and so forth.

Xbox 360 Elite Trade-Up Program

Gamestop 360 Elite Trade In Image 1

Everyone’s favorite gaming retailer, Gamestop/EB Games, will be offering a trade-up program for the Xbox 360 Elite. You get trade-in credit for an Xbox 360 Core or Premium as well as an original Xbox.

For the Core 360, you get $200 trade-in credit. For the Premium, you get $250. You’d think all the extra premium stuff would be worth more than an extra $50. Anyway, you will also get $50 for trading in your original Xbox. Personally, I’d say keep that original Xbox and mod it to run Xbox Media Center.

If you’re looking to get rid of your current 360 for the new, more powerful model, this isn’t too bad of a deal. I’m going to wait it out and see if Microsoft fixes the VGA output issues on the 360.

Brothers in Arms Coming to Wii & DS

Brothers in Arms ImageToday Ubisoft and Gearbox officially announced they’re bringing their Brothers in Arms series to the Wii and DS this year. The DS game, innovatively titled Brothers in Arms DS, will ship this summer, while the Wii game, titled Brothers in Arms Double Time, will be out this fall.

The Wii title will feature all 31 playable levels from the previous Brothers in Arms games. Of course, you’ll get to use the Wiimote to issue commands and such. So there’s not much new here if you’re already played the games on Xbox or PS2. The DS title will 16 missions and three different campaigns with some added multiplayer goodness. Should be a good DS title.

From the press release:

Brothers In Arms on the Wii and DS systems is really exciting for us,” said Randy Pitchford, president of Gearbox Software. “I am a huge fan of both systems and thrilled about making games for the two platforms. In the entire space of first-person shooters on video game systems, Brothers In Arms really lends itself to both the Wii and DS interfaces. Imagine using the Wii Remote to give actual hand signals or aiming with the DS stylus from a covered position. That’s what you can look forward to with Brothers In Arms Double Time and Brothers In Arms DS.”

Ninja Gaiden Sigma Level 1 Video

Do you wanna see how you really should be playing Ninja Gaiden Sigma? The game’s director played through the first level, and here’s a video to see how he did.

I don’t remember the original Ninja Gaiden (sans Black) on Xbox being this hard. And I certainly wasn’t this good at it….

New Halo 2 Maps Coming

Halo 2 - Tombstone Image

We’ve known for a while that Bungie was gonna drop some new multiplayer maps for Halo 2. What we all thought, because it’s what Bungie said, was that the maps would be for Xbox 360 only. Today, Frankie dropped the ball that the maps will be available on April 17 for both Xbox and Xbox 360. Nice to see they’re showing love for people who haven’t made the plunge into the “next-gen” of gaming.

The two maps are remakes of the popular Halo maps Hang ’Em High and Derelict. The new maps, now dubbed Tombstone (at top) and Desolation (just above), respectively, will set you back $4. That’s right, no MS Points here boooyeee. Since the old school Xbox can’t compute the craziness that is MS Points, you get to pay with real money this time. Consider this is a priviledge, because who knows when it’ll happen again.

LEGO Batman Announced and in Production

lego-batman.jpgMany of us played with LEGO’s when we were little. Some of us had to play with Mega blocks because dad had to get a case of Bud pounders instead.  Anyway, we have all played the Lego Star Wars games and had an absolute blast. Well now we get to enjoy and expect much of the same when Lego Batman: The Game is released for all systems, both current and next gen.   No official word on the date yet, but ign.com has some intimate details of some of the storyline.  It looks like shit is gonna hit the fan when all the criminals that the Caped Crusaded and his homoerotic sidekick had captured all escape and run amok on unsuspecting Gotham.  They also claim that it will be the same team that worked on the Star Wars games so expect a high replay value and many unlockables.   Check back often for updates.
