Duke Nukem 3D Gets Achievements

Duke Nukem 3D
Duke Nukem 3D is coming to your XBLA near you and of course you need your achievements as well. There are a total of 12 achievements totalling up 200 points with 9 Single Player Achievements and 3 Multiplayer Achievements. Most are available in Coop mode which is a nice touch and will promote some good old fashioned fun with Duke. My favorite is the “Shake it Baby” achievement, Duke you scamp.

1. Piece of Cake - Complete “L.A. Meltdown” on any difficulty or in co-op.25 points
2. Let’s Rock - Complete “Lunar Apocalypse” on any difficulty or in co-op.25 points
3. Come Get Some - Complete “Shrapnel City” on any difficulty or in co-op.25 points
4. Game Over - Complete “The Birth” on any difficulty or in co-op.25 points

Hit the jump for the rest of the achievments form Duke Nukem 3D.

Bionic Commando: Evolution Trailer

Bionic Commando was one of the best side shooters to ever come out on the NES. Bionic Commando: Rearmed is one of the best XBLA titles to date. Bionic Commando for the next gen is looking better everyday. This trailer shows the evolution from then until now. Its remarkable how things have come in the past 20 years.

Review - 1942: Joint Strike (Xbox 360)

1942 Joint Strike Screen 1

I remember pumping quarters into the arcade playing the 194x series. They were by far the best top scrolling WWII shooters ever made. The game has made its way through platform after platform and we now find it in the next-gen era via Xbox Live Arcade. Is this rehash of a classic worth your MS points or should it be enjoyed on the modded Xbox you know you still have?

Geometry Wars Multiplayer Action

Everyone has played Geometry Wars either for the XBLA or as part of Project Gotham Racing, but one thing you haven’t done is play with a buddy over Xbox Live. In Geometry Wars 2 you can now have multiplayer buddies with friends and let me say that it looks fast paced and fun. Check it out.

The New XBLA Arcade Walkthrough

I’m a hardcore gamer and XBLA games do not really interest me at all. MS knows that despite the high volume of games, very few are even worth a demo download. They promise to change that all this fall with the new dashboard update. After watching this, I have to say that I am interested where I couldn’t give two shits before.

The Maw Trailer

To be honest I was not aware of this game until I came across the trailer. The Maw looks like a super cute platformer, but what is more impressive to me is the fact that this is an XBLA title. I thought it was just another standard jumpy-jumpy game and then realised that this is supposed to exist as an arcade title not a full fledged game. The levels and gameplay do not lead you to believe that this is limited to a small arcade title, but we will keep our eyes on this one for sure.

Rumor: Metal Gear Solid Coming to XBLA

Metal Gear Solid 1 Cover

Start the rumor machines. All across the internets today, people are claiming that they have sources that indicate Metal Gear Solid, the first adventure of Solid Snake(excluding his NES days) is coming to XBLA. There are many reasons why this is bullshit. Here are some that may make it happen. First, the 350mb ceiling doesn’t apply. You can download Ninja Gaiden Black and thats close to 5 gb. Second, MS made MGS for Windows. Third, its already out on the PSN store in Japan.  Shenanigans or authentic?

Bionic Commando: Rearmed Delayed

Bionic Commando Rearmed Screen

The very anticipated XBLA remake of the NES classic has been delayed. The game was slated for a May release but will not make that date. There has been no new date set yet, but click here for the interactive communicator which tells you that the game has been pushed back and nothing else. I guess its a fun way to deliver bad news.

Top 4 XBLA Launches of All Time

Penny Arcade Screen 2

With GTA IV smashing every record in the books, we thought it would be a good idea to share with you the best launches of XBLA to date:

  1. Rez HD, 25k units
  2. Ikaruga, 22.5k units
  3. Penny Arcade Adventures Episode 1, 16.5k units
  4. N+, 13k units

This was requested by Gabe, one of the creators behind the Penny Arcade series. A few things to note here. First, these are just the XBLA numbers. You can get Penny Arcade on PC, Mac, and Linux. Second, PAA: OtRSPoD costs 20 bucks. That is a lot for an XBLA game; almost twice the normal price. We can expect much more from Gabe and Tycho with this just being the first episode, albeit a successful one.
