Ok I have to admit that I have heard quite some mixed reviews for Star Wars the Force Unleashed so i had to grab this game and try it for myself. Let me start by saying that Darth Vader is a full fledged pimp. That being said I also think that the ability to force throw 7 foot Wookies needs to be incorporated into every game. Even better is using a Wookie as a bowling ball that you can hurl into other Wookiies.
The environments are for the most part fully destructible, which is a great touch for throwing enemies through trees. Targeting different enemies can be a bit challenging to get a hang of but once you get that down using the force powers like throwing your lightsaber is very fun. Fighting the first Rogue Jedi was an interesting battle when you realize that he is taking Tie Fighters out of the sky and throwing them at you.
So far the game seems to provide some open ended ways to dispose of enemies and interesting ways to use the force to get your job done. Cut scenes and voice acting are spot on and really provide great background to the game and pull you into the story. So far the Force Unleashed looks like a good time to be had.
Stay tuned for a full review of the game very soon.
Saints Row 2 continues to look up as compared to its first iteration, not only via the expanded gameplay but also now some decent voice acting. They have taken a few characters from the first game and reintroduced them, but also added quite a few more. Of most note is the fact that NPH (Neil Patrick Harris a.k.a. Doogie Howser) is in this one as a drug dealing maniac, dude NPH wouldn’t do that.
Target: Terror for the Wii looks terrible. After watching this all I can say is, why? Why would you name it this and make such a bad looking and playing game? This looks so un-inspired, it is a horrible knockoff of Lethal Enforcers, an old shooter from the SNES days. The on screen shootings look horrible and the voice acting is even worse, this screams bargain bin $9.99 game, is this what the Wii is being reduced to if the game does not have Mario in it?
Looks like the new Incredible Hulk game will use the ral actor voices from the upcoming movie, which is nice. Impressive to see that Sega is going big budget on their movie games, first Iron Man gets good voice acting and now Hulk. Also note worthy is the fact that these games are scheduled to release at the same time as the movies instead of releasing early and cashing in on hype. I smell decent video games for these two titles.
Here is the official word:

Sega announced that they will not skimp out on voice acting on their upcoming Iron Man game, as they will use the actors from the movie to voice the game as well. So expect to hear some Robert Downey and Terrence Howard on your console, which I think this will be a nice touch for the game. Interestingly enough, this game is also scheduled to come out the same day as the movie. Typically, video games based on movies come out before the movie to try and cash in, but perhaps this one will be good enough to stand on it’s own merit?

Everyone’s favorite horn ball will be hitting next-gen consoles later this year. Sierra and Team 17 have joined forces to bring us Leisure Suit Larry Box Office Bust.
In Box Office Bust, serial bachelor Larry takes summer job on his uncle Larry’s movie lot, and ends up trying to protect the studio from a rival. Gameplay will include mission-based exploration, platforming, racing and puzzle-solving. The game will also feature a “Director’s Game” that allows the player to create their own Larry movies.
The game will also feature some pretty damn good voice acting. Those lending a hand to the game include Jay Mohr, Dave Attell, Shannon Elizabeth, Carmen Electra, Artie Lange, Patrick Warburton, Jeffrey Tambor, Nikki Cox, Peter Graves and Josh Keaton. Not a bad cast of voices if you ask me.
I’ve always had a blast with Larry games, and I hope this one will keep up the tradition of fun and debauchery.
The Simpsons game has caught quite a beating wherever you check, but we will give you the lowdown on your fine-feathered Yellow family. Okay they aren’t feathered, but read on anyway.
Presentation and Graphics: Each level starts and ends with a Simpsons cut-scene that looks amazing in HD. The game itself for the most part looks pretty good and sticks with the cartoonish style of Springfield. The odd part is that at times during the stages the cutscenes change to a horrid almost sketch like style, which makes the family look like their first season artistic style. The game is bright and the environments are good looking, but there isn’t much to put in here other than it looks like the Simpsons. 3 out of 5
You have probably already read some awful reviews for Lair on the PS3 and I don’t want to kick a game while its down, but I just started playing around with Lair and the game really is hard to get into. I would never have thought that the premise of flying dragons could be done poorly but Lair achieved this. Aside from the remote play that allows you to play Lair on your PSP the game has very awkward controls and even more awkward dialogue.
Lair has a Lord of the Rings feel to it mixed with Dragonheart, the whole premise is you are a dragon rider that defends his kingdom against other dragon riders, sounds cool right? Well in theory it is until you grab the six-axis controller and realize that controlling your dragon is not very fun. The six axis controls are used to steer your dragon, which does not really respond well and can get a bit frustrating when you end up flying in circles to get your enemies. Flying battles turn out to be pretty frustrating as targeting enemies in the air is a bit of a pain to use your fire breath, you can lock on and use physical strikes as well but that just isn’t the same. You can also land your dragon and breath fire on the ground, but this also turns out being a bit more fun as you can trample enemies on foot and even eat them. Read More »
Well, it’s not A-List for movies, but it’s certainly A-List in the video game world. Actors are lining up to lend their voices to Turok. Here’s a sampling of what you can expect in the game:
The realism of Turok and his team’s terrifying circumstance is conveyed through the distinguished voice talent. Gregory Norman Cruz provides the voice of Joseph Turok and the other members of Whiskey Company are: Timothy Olyphant (as Cowboy), Ron Perlman (Slade), Donnie Wahlberg (Shepard), William Fichtner (Logan), Mark Rolston (Cole), Chris Judge (Jericho), Lombardo Boyar (Gonzales), Gideon Emery (Reese), Josh Gomez (Parker), Jon Curry (Foster), Jason Harris (Carter) and Steve Van Wormer (Henderson).
This seems to be a continuing trend in the industry, and I can only hope it continues and grows. The more epic and film-like games are made, the more immersive the experience.
