Star Wars Saga Headed To Virtual Console

Super Star Wars Screen

Watch out Luke! Don’t get too close to that Sarlacc sand penis!

Not just any Star Wars saga, the Super Star Wars saga!  Nintendo has just announced that the Super Star Wars series is headed to the Wii Virtual Console this week beginning with the first Super Star Wars game from the SNES era.  I reported previously about the unknown future of the X-wing vs. TIE Fighter series in this post, but is this the release of past Star Wars content president of LucasArts Darrel Rodriguez alluded to?

I really don’t know?  And I really don’t care, any and all Star Wars additions to my gaming catalog are good ones (minus that N64 abortion of a game called Battle for Naboo).  I skipped the SNES era for some strange reason, so the Super Star Wars series wasn’t even on my radar at the time.  All I know is, I missed out on playing through the original movie trilogy, battling Mos Eisley cantina patrons, as well as slicing off huge sand penises (pictured above) with my lightsaber.

A big milestone for the Nintendo Download this week. They reach their 300th game on the Virtual Console, which is great, but, the 300th game is one of significance. I’ll give you a hint: It’s A Zelda game. On the n64. Not Ocarina. Figure that one out. Also a bunch of other stuff you won’t pay for for. Hit the jump for pricing and descriptions.
