Video on Demand Service Coming to PSP Owners in UK

PSP Image

Sony recently announced a new joint venture company with SKY to provide video on demand service for PSP owners in the UK and Ireland.

Focusing exclusively on delivering video content to the PSP, the Joint Venture will initially provide a wealth of video and film content to the more than 2.3 million PSP owners in the UK and Ireland. The two companies are already in discussions with entertainment content providers across Europe to facilitate future introduction of the service to European PSP owners.

Not much more is know at this point, like what type of content will be available and how much it will cost. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe is prepared to give details of the service on August 22nd at Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany. I guess we’ll just have to wait until then to see what pans out.

Tom Clancy’s EndWar Trailer

Here’s another trailer from UbiDay for EndWar, coming later this year. The new RTS game in the Tom Clancy line is set to use a lot of voice control to setup and move your troops around. Should prove to be an interesting control scheme for console RTS.

Here’s your HD goodness.

PS3 and PSP Video On Demand Coming in 2007

PS3 and PSP Connection ImageSony Computer Entertainment Europe president David Reeves has confirmed that a video on-demand service will be available for the PS3 and PSP by the end of the year.

This is a long overdue addition to the Playstation Network. The Video Marketplace is a HUGE money maker and popular service for the Xbox 360. Sony will profit well from this once it’s launched.

Sony’s service should provide a wealth of entertainment, as the movie studios they own and participate with have a ton of great content to provide.

IGN reports:

According to Reeves, full-length movies, music and TV programmes will all be available for download, direct to both the PS3 and PSP, although he gave no indication of exactly what would be available at launch or indeed the pricing structure. Reeves added, “It will not be in all of our PAL territories but it will be in the major territories.”

Having this for both the PS3 and PSP is a great idea. Hopefully you can buy the content in one place and be able to watch on both devices.
